I haven't been this upset in a long time. I was writing about
my daughter on another post the other day, and now I am caught up in this mess.
My older daughter and son had strept throat about
3-4 weeks ago. I was sick when they were sick but had a weird infection from a cut and so i had to take antibiotics anyway. My youngest got a weird bacterial infection on the skin of her butt and was also on antibiotics.
My older daughter came down with strept again this week, and my son wakes up this morning sick, off to the dr, sure enough strept again! And now I am sick again =(
I can't do this. I am not supposed to be on antibiotics bc of the candida issue I have. I probably have strept if my 2 kids do. I feel so defeated right now, I dont know what to do. All week I have been taking tons of immune booster meds and apparantly that wasn't enough. I am worried now that maybe my immune system is severely compromised or something - or maybe it truly is just a stroke of bad luck. I am just nervous. What if the fact that I do cheat on my diet is what's making me sick? It is SO hard not to grab a few chips or some chocolate when the rest of the family is having it.
sorry this is a negative message, but I am just upset. The one positive thing is I have absolutely no lyme symptoms!
could just use a hug and advice if you have any. thanks!

I think the fact that you can get sick says that your immune system can at least fight. I haven't been sick in a year at least.
Did you pitch or sterilize toothbrushes after first strep?

Dear Chapelle, you need to stay strong. I understand you completely, you know how I freaked out about
abx and ulcer and all of that, but you were there to give me support. Sometimes it is hard to hold on. But we must do it. I am sure this is a bad phase and it will end soon.
about
your diet, try to eat as clean as possible, but we are all humans and chocolate is so delicious.
The most important thing is that you have no Lyme symptoms, yay! :) That is such a big thing! I am so happy for you!
Stay strong, your kids need you. You kicked Lyme, you can cope with this, I am sure :)

Chapelle -
I'm sorry - what a tough day. Strep is so contagious - my sister used to get it constantly from the family dog who always slept in her bed.
In your case it is probably just bad luck. It seems like with this lyme & co every day is such a careful balance that it's so easy for one thing to shift the balance and jeopardize our protocol and health status. It doesn't take much to launch us into stress mode. I hate that.
But you know that stress will only make you feel worse and be another drain on your immune system... so please go easy on yourself.
You will recover from the abx - just make sure you engage an anti fungal and don't be scared to hit it hard. It's a short blip and then you can get back on track. You won't have to avoid chips and chocolate forever.
Take a deep breath and love yourself a little... Maybe go by yourself for a walk and sit in the park a little. ME time.

((((((((((HUGZ))))))))))
And don't forget to use
plenty
of probiotics!! S. boulderii is the best to combat candida from what I've seen.
And as Pirouette said, if abx are necessary, you can and will recover from their use. As far as the candida goes, it won't matter even if you did choose to use herbal/natural abx, it would still hit your candida in the same way as the pharma abx.

Hugs and comfort thoughts. It is hard to have a sick household.
Would it help if I told you how many bug parts are allowed in the processing of chocolate?

thank you all so much for your support!!
blueberry summer16 and pirouette - thank you for your kind words! P - I have been wanting to take a me day since the kids went back to school in sept, and I still haven't had a chance to!! I need one for sure!
Traveler, thank you once again, and I did not know that.....hmmm....I was taking S boulardi for months and switched off - maybe I should not have? This is an emabarassing question, but could an individual take more than one type of probiotic?? I am taking Dr O'hira's blend.
Peteza, LOL - and traveler I think she intentionally wanted to gross me out - haha. I have heard of that before, maybe I should just remind myself of that when I am tempted.....!!!

Chapelle - I'm so sorry you're having a tough time...hang in there...you'll get on top of it..
Yes, you can take more than one type of probiotic. I take a few different ones - the one my LLND prescribes -
HMF Forte and one from the local health food store, as well as organic, sugar free Kefir.
If you are cheating on your diet -once in a while - like a small piece of chocolate once a week..I wouldn't worry about
it...but if it's happening all the time...then that's different. (IMO)

But I didn't want to hear about
it too! LOL! I don't eat much because most chocolate has soy in it, and I'm quite allergic to soy. They make a soy free chocolate, but it's expensive and I'd eat waaay too much!
I agree with Girlie, taking more than one probiotic can be necessary, especially when battling Candida. S. Boulderii is important when Candida is present.

I missed k07's post---- SO GLAD you made that comment. Yes, in many ways, symptoms are a good indicator that immune system is functioning! AND YES - REPLACE YOUR TOOTHBRUSH! I do it every 3 months to be safe and certainly after I relapse with something
PeteZa - "bug parts per bite" too funny.

you gals are the BEST!!
yes, girlie, it is an addiction. I go maybe 2 or 3 days and then cave, and then the next day I will say, well i messed up yesterday, so I will mess up again today and start fresh tomorrow. I keep going thru that cycle over and over again. It is SO hard for me!!! I actually went 6 weeks from jan to feb and then that's when I started messing up and have been on and off since. My dr said it's ok to have a cheat day - but only once a week - I am giving myself too many bc I just can't do it even though i know its bad for me =( But I HAVE to!!!!
and thanks on the probiotic tip. I will re-initiate the florastor tmrw!!
peteza - yes, but I do get confused. If you take person A who never gets sick, but also doesn't have health problems, then you take person B who gets sick alot - you would think their immune system is weaker bc they can't "ward" off the bad germs. I am still trying to come to grips with this, even though my Dr has said the same thing. Getting sick means your immune system is working, but then isn't something wrong if a person gets sick often? (As I have recently and even in the fall). I was thinking that if your immune system is battling Candida (or lyme for example), then it doesn't have time to fight the other germs, therefore you would be more susceptible to getting more sick, no?

Hey Chapelle,
I know how you feel. I would rather be sick than my children.
My daughter was getting strep on and off. It was terrible. One huge thing that helped was I bought silver spray. I bought one from ResultsRNA but I think any good one is fine. Anyways, I made her spray her tonsils at the first red/itchy throat and guess what... It worked!
It was really amazing bc this child had strep three times during the fall and winter. Just a suggestion. It might help! Oh, and yeah, their Dr. said to get rid of the toothbrushes. We never did that when we were young...But, what do we know? hehe

It's an odd thing, that's for sure. Those that are really sick, and their immune function is impaired won't have symptoms of viruses, unless it's REALLY bad, and even some bacterial infections as well. It's the same as with these infections though, whatever infection has the higher 'load' in the body, will be the one to produce symptoms, or at least more severe symptoms.

Here's something you may want consider, having your own stash of safe goodies for when you're tempted:

Hey here's another ((((hug)))). You know, you could get some oil of oregano and if someone feels like they're getting sick rub one drop into the sole of each foot. That stuff is dynamite. But yeah, anyone having lyme or having gotten rid of lyme should get an eternal 'get out of jail free' card for illness.
You have the doc that says no fermented food, right? If so I wish you could ask what his/her reason is for saying that. Sorry, not trying to bug you but I really think that is what turned my nasty candida problem around so quickly.

So sorry to hear of all the illness in your family, including you, Chapelle!!! (((hugs)))
Not only would I be replacing toothbrushes but, I'd be washing switchplates, remotes, phones, etc. and
opening windows to get those germs o-u-t out.
Towels shouldn't be shared when strep is in the house...
And, to emphasize Girlie's comments, yes, you can take multiple probiotics. Think about
the homemade-kefir-drinking bunch in this community - we get almost 5 TRILLION organisms with every cup.
In addition to my daily homemade kefir, I rotate among 5 different brands of probiotics so I get a big variety. I include Prescript
Assist in that rotation because it's a soil-based probiotic....most of the organisms in the soil have been depleted due to modern farming methods.
Take a deep breath. This too shall pass. And don't ever forget about
the power of prayer.

Thanks all!! My spirits are a bit better today, but I still feel very sick. I am going to find myself a Dr tmrw (bc I don't have a GP). My friend recommended one last year, but I never went bc she didn't take my insurance. This year my husband and I opted out of insurance - it is just too darn expensive. We have Child health plus for the kids, but I spend all my money on my Lyme Dr and treatments anyway so what is the use! So I will go see this new Dr trmw and hopefully we will confirm whether or not this is strept. I have to pay out of pocket now wherever I go, so I might as well see her and hopefully she will be willing to work with my LLMD (she is supposed to be
open to lyme disease - hard to find GPs like that nowadays!)
Thanks for the remainder of the tips. Prayers sure do help, yes, and we will be going to mass today, so I am looking forward to that! Plus my youngest wants to refill her holy water font in her room =)
Tillybear - like I said before, I totally respect your opinion, and I am glad you found something that works. I am just "followin doctors orders", my LLMD does not agree that fermented foods really help - neither does the author of "the candida cure". If all else fails, then I will try it your way. But for now, I am sticking to what has been recommended to me by the professionals.
cd - I will look into kefir. Sometimes i get so much information on this forum, I don't have the time to take notes or to soak it all in!! That is a good thing though!!
and traveler - it was good to hear you say that I can recover from taking antibiotics. It just feels like a viscious cycle. I have to stay healthy for a long enough while to stop having to "start over agaim" fighting Candida. Bc if I keep fighting it, but I keep getting sick and taking antibiotics, this will never end!! That's what it feels like anyway.
Every time I try to re-start my exercise routine, I have been getting run down. It's like my body isn't letting me workout. IT is very frustrating. Weight is not an issue, bc I am thin, but I lost muscle tone again. I feel so good when I run - but I don't know what i need to do to get to the point of being able to run and not getting "run down". I can't do the LI half marathon now bc I fell too far behindon the training. Some of you know me, and I like to go go go and fight fight fight and I have been very positive about
this for a long time, but I feel like I am slowly moving along and all of this sickness is holding me back from getting stronger.

If you want chocolate that's good for you, make it! I make the most amazing chocolate truffles from sweet potatoes. They freeze well and last in the fridge for a while, too. Just bake a sweet potato, take the skin off and mash it up, add coconut oil, stevia, any kind of nuts or bits if you like (shredded unsweetened coconut, chia seeds, chopped walnuts, etc.) and mix it all up and add raw cacao powder (full of nutrients). Put it in the fridge for a few minutes to set up a bit and then take it out and roll them into little balls. You can then dip them in more coconut shreds, bits or even more cocao powder mixed with powdered stevia and roll them around in that. Refrigerate and try not to eat them all in one sitting! There is nothing to be shameful about
eating these as they are packed with nutrients and delicious to boot! If you like cocao nibs you can use those.....just anything that you enjoy and chop into tiny pieces....I make the balls about
an inch big and they're perfect two bite treats. If you want a chocolate coating, GENTLY and barely melt coconut oil, stevia and raw cocao powder together and dip the balls in it and put them on a
cookie sheet into the freezer for a few minutes to harden up but don't leave them in there too long if you're going to eat them right away as they will freeze.
Oh, I forgot to mention, make sure you're using organic sweet potatoes....they make every bit of difference in the taste.
I hope this gives you some ideas!

about
getting sick, I have one question. So what happens is a person has Lyme and never gets sick from these ordinary viruses, like sore throat, runny nose, etc. so what happens with that virus that enters Lyme patient's body? It just stays there???
My whole familiy had some virus and I was the only one who hadn't. I don't understand that. Does it mean that my body could not respond to the virus and then the virus just stayed inside my body?
I am not sure if I explained well my concern, but I hope you got my point.

blueberrymuffin - I understand what you're asking.
I have not been sick since prior to April, 2013 (when my symptoms started)
A ND said that wasn't a good sign.
But, pretty much all my life I didn't get sick much. If I had a cold, I was over it in a few days...rarely got the flu...I think once in the last 20 years.
So, if my immune system isn't functional...then wouldn't I be sicker? How can the virus be in my system...and not make me sick?
How could I have been so healthy in my childhood and adult life..if it actually means my immune system isn't functioning.

Thanks Girlie.
I just hope that all those viruses are not strolling in my body, and my immune system does nothing.
Sometimes I am so afraid of all of this.
