Astragalus as tick deterant? any reactions?

I don't have any problems with my thyroid so I can't respond to that section. However I do take Astragalus tincture and do not have a problem with it at all.

If you try it, watch for a rash and have some benedryl on hand in case of an allergic reaction.

I thought Buhner recommended advised against using Astragalus if one has chronic Lyme.
I've been telling all of my family members who don't have Lyme to take Astragalus,
but I'm not taking it myself.

I just made a boatload of Buhners Tick Repellant, though.

I use astragalus, and have been using it for the last 2 years now. It will always be part of my daily routines from now on. Ever since I started taking it, I may have some symptom flares (from Bart or Babs if I have active infections) after a tick bite, but I've not developed any Lyme symptoms since using it - and I've had a handful of ticks attach in the last 2 years!

The biggest thing I've noticed is that if I'm using it when I'm not exposed to tick bites, inflammation is much higher in my body, but if I keep the dose low (1,000 mgs daily in divided doses), the inflammation is not an issue. I can easily raise up my dose to the required 3,000 mgs easily and comfortably though if I have a tick bite and I get a reaction. For me the first sign of trouble is that it raises up (inflammation) higher than others, and it's hot and red. That's when I know to increase my doses of astragalus to the full 3,000 mgs daily.

When I start to experience too much inflammation again, and I can't figure out any other reason for it, I lower my dose back down to the 1,000 mgs daily and the inflammation goes away and I'm back to doing well again!
