Ringworm - any connection with Lyme?

My 12-year old son had his head shaved yesterday in support of his good friend who is battling Leukemia for a second time. It is just heartbreaking. Anyway, we noticed that my son has red circles all over his scalp. He is upset and embarrassed. I am taking him to the pediatrician today but I'm pretty sure it is scalp ringworm (which is really fungal). Would you say there is a link with Lyme here? My daughters both have red spots on their scalp as well but were swabbed for ringworm and it was negative. I don't really trust that it was swabbed properly because they didn't scrape the cells - just used a cotton swab. I also get a very itchy scalp. My husband shaves his head weekly and doesn't have any issues.

I'm so tired of all these fungal/bacterial issues!

Note: He tests somewhat positive for Lyme (girls too) and he had "lyme-like" issues after meningitis vaccine (swollen groin lymph nodes, muscle twitching, spacey/ill feeling, breathing and swallowing issues). All have mostly resolved. Tested high on IGG for Chalmydia Pneum and still has a tad bit of a cough. Treated for 30 days Buhner CPN protocol, doxy/amoxy/probenecid.

Ringworm is a common misdiagnosis of Lyme. I would encourage you to take plenty of photos, making sure the capture a few with another object in the picture, showing the size of the 'rings' - just in case. If they don't come up positive for ringworm, I would encourage you to pursue Lyme treatment. As you said, ring worm is fungal, so antifungals will work, if it's really ring worm.

Yes. There seems to be no real time limit for them. Some stay around for a long time, and others seem to come and go. Some people like me never see any Lyme rashes. I also only get a few Bart rashes, even though those were my two worst infections.

Is your nystatin powder, liquid or capsule?

Yes, I don't think his is ringworm because usually with that there is some hair loss and he has none of that.

Also, he says he can smell it! I have a horrible nose and don't smell anything but it is driving him crazy. I think we will need to see an LLMD in order to have it treated properly.
