It is generally understood amongst lyme specialists that CD57 levels can be helpful--and can also be meaningless... Even across several tests performed over time on the same person. The case certainly is true for me - I started out with a 37 and was VERY, very sick. I tested a year later at 47 and had improved gut, immune system, was actively treating lyme & co... etc. I tested 53 a year after that and had crashed significantly.
Here is a good descript
ion of the controversy over CD57 and why it shouldn't be used as the sole indicator for treatment approach. There just isn't enough known about
how the immune system functions, certainly not enough about
how lyme & co affect immune function going into/during/coming out of treatment, and testing is woefully inaccurate and/or lacks usable information.
Generally, lyme specialists will suggest that you evaluate your current infection from a clinical perspective--are you mostly symptom-free over the past couple of months?
