This was one of my first symtoms I had before I knew I had Lyme. I would get random pin prick like feelings all over and mainly on my feet. I have noticed that since starting antiobiotics the sensations are more frequent. I am getting worried at how often I feel them. Is this a herx reaction? Are the antiobiotics not working? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

I don't know how long you have been on the antibiotics and what kind, but I felt like I had stepped on glass and had shards in my feet. I also had burning feet and I would soak them in ice water.

It may have been Bart or just ole lyme. Treatment was the cure.

I get those too. They can really hurt sometimes. I hate them in my toes! Though I don't do antibiotics, I am doing herbals and I do think that herx can make these sensations worse for a time. And I don't know how true it is but I think that antibiotics are worse for herx reactions then herbs. Probably because you can go at the herbs at your own pace.

Oh yeah... walking on shards of glass. Bizarre, awful pain.

pins and needles is a neuropathy type symptom. I just met w/ my neurologist today - neuropathy is generally inflammation aggravating the nerve endings. So anything you can do to reduce inflammation should be helpful.

Thank you! I have only been on antiobiotics for about three weeks am on two and am pulsing with flagyl every other week as well.

"pin pricks", "bee stings" the feeling of something biting you but it's nothing. Yes, I have had this symptom. Can't really pin point any one place. I've felt it everywhere at some point.

It started when I started ABX. It's also worse when you think about it more, so it makes me believe it's CNS related. It has gotten a lot better after I stopped abx and went to herbs and got stricter with my diet (paleo).

Some of the antibiotics are known for causing nerve pain. I have to be really careful with them because I will notice worsening symptoms immediately.

My first symptoms were both hands falling asleep at night - it would get so bad that I would lose all sensation in my hands...I ignored it and didn't go to a doctor. It wasn't until I started feeling it when I was awake that I thought there may be a problem, but then it was too late and I woke up in a panic with my right leg/foot, face and both arms full of pins in needles. For me, antibiotics helped my legs and face clear up right away. I still get the numbness in my arms while I am sleeping. When I was treating bartonella my feet would feel ice cold and hurt...it sounds like it could be a herx reaction, inflammation, or the lyme causing a problem.
