Hi guys so im currently on 400mg Doxy daily, 300mg Mycobutin every other day and 500mg Zithromax 2x per week.
3 days ago I developed a new symptom, a buzzing sensation in my calves/knee whenever I activate those muscles i.e. whenever I walk/move around. Nothing happens when still. Is this likely a herx from my infections or nerve damage/side effect from the drugs? I'm thinking the former, not the latter? If it was a drug side effect you would think I would have more than just that one area buzzing when activated? I should mention I normally suffer from periodic muscle twitches and buzzing sensations if I hit a body part hard on something or clap my hands together hard. Thanks!

How long have you been taking the doxy/Myco/zith?
I'm thinking herx.
Do any of those meds list nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy) as a side effect?
I know the flouroquinolones (not sure if all of them) can cause that.
Are you doing enough to detox?

Girlie- 3 weeks. Yeah Im thinking herx too.
I have no detox issues [liver and kidney enzymes were perfect on CBC 3 days ago] and because so far all these drugs havent caused any changes or bad side effects. Except Mycobutin actually- the first 10 days on it I got a harsh pressure in the front of my head all day but that is gone now.

Floridadude, just because your liver and kidney enzymes are perfect, does not mean you do not need to detox.
Here is some information -

hi - it is possibly a herx, however, i had peripheral neuropathy issues with doxy - so doxy can indeed cause nerve problems.
here is my question - you have only been on doxy for 3 weeks? my dr started me on doxy slowly - i wasn't on 400mg a day until month 3. perhaps you started the doxy on too high of a dose? that is my thinking....
i hope i didn't confuse you on the other thread when you were asking about
the DR form - did you switch over? is your stomach better?

I agree that it's more likely herxing and encourage you to include more detoxing routines.

I know with me, that the abx clears up one symptom only to have a new one appear. Very frustrating.
