Constant burping and pelvic pain

Hi Exana--

Burping is excess gass in the gut... do you have any yeast/fungal issues? That's one of the many symptoms that too much yeast/fungus can create.

Pelvic pain could be many things... could also be an issue of too much gas in the lower intestine. Is it a cramping feeling? Sharp pain? Dull ache? is it towards the front? back? Have you ever had a urinary tract infection?

Interesting perspective runnergirl82. As of late I've had more burping, but I've also increased my herbs. I guess it can be attributed to a number of things. I'm thinking mine may be a yeast/fungal issue even though my last b/w didn't show evidence of this however. Getting ready to do another doctor's data test and see what that reveals. I'm really thinking in my case it may be some yeast/fungal stirring up.

You are right. Testing can sometimes help us narrow some of this down, but we all know that it's often not 100%.

Just as you did, Krimpet and I are posting ideas for possible causes, which was the OP's request. I think it's great that the thread caught your eye and you have a relevant experience to share. We all likely do as several different things can cause excess gas. And as you probably know, these symptoms sometimes take a significant investigative effort to understand.

I post a LOT about yeast/fungus because most lymees are on antimicrobial protocols and most of them include abx and/or herbal tinctures in an alcohol base. Both of these can cause yeast/fungal imbalances if not taken correctly with sufficient probiotics or an anti fungal component. Many people had y/f issues even before lyme & co for various reasons.

Y/f issues can damage the gut and impede proper immune function, which is critical for healing lyme & co.

Many if not most of the y/f symptoms overlap w/ lyme & co symptoms, which makes it tough to know which is causing which and it's very difficult to heal from lyme & co if you have an underlying y/f overgrowth. And from my two years talking w/ lymees on this forum and from all of the research I've done online, MOST MDs and NDs don't fully understand yeast/fungal issues and have no idea how to successfully treat it. I'd be pretty selfish if I didn't share this info that most lymees can benefit from.

I'm surely not suggesting that everyone has y/f overgrowth--there are quite a few people here who are treating successfully and have avoided it! I don't think Krimpet's post implied it, either. But it's common enough amongst us lymees that it should be explored when similar symptoms pop up.

I definitely think Bart should be explored too. I've never had gas from bart - it's plagued me in multiple other ways but I have no doubt it can create any symptom it wants to.

Can you describe your "other symptoms" that started in October? Any change in diet or anything else that could have triggered the gas?
Other symptoms that started in January?
How did you get diagnosed?
What other treatments are you on?

Yep, there can probably be many different reasons and it is all specific to the person and individual case. Just important to not always assume it's yeast/fungal, as that's not the case for every single person.

I agree it's so freaking hard to tell the difference. Both yeast/fungal and lyme can cause such similar symptoms. In the end I guess it doesn't matter because one should treat lyme and gut health at the sametime.

Just throwing out ideas as well. Constant belching can also be a sign of angina. Wishing you the best Exana that you get this figured out and feel better soon.

Pirouette, my first symptom back in October was the constant belching and stomach issues.
January I began getting joint pain, muscle pain, weird feeling in my head, shooting nerve pain, itchy feeling under the skin.
I did the igenex test and it came back negative but the LLND I see has suggested that the results are very suspicious and in his opinion they are a clear positive. This was as recent as 2 weeks ago.
I told him about my pelvic pain and constant burping and he suggested I improve my guy health before I start the herbal Lyme remedies he has prepared for me. I have about a week to go but this has not improved at all.
I have cut many things out of my diet for the last 4 months (no refined sugar, no caffeine, no dairy and recently no gluten and low starch-almost no starch at all)

I'll follow up with him this coming week but I don't know what else I can cut out that may help

Just re-reading your last post. You can have Lyme or co-infections, however since they are known to aggravate the gut, some of your symptoms also sound like small intestine bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). And I can assure you that cutting out the things above won't get rid of SIBO, though it is a part of the process. You can google it and also ask your LLMD about it. It is a breath test you can take to determine if this is also contributing to your symptoms. You would need to test for hydrogen and methane. Also I would suggest doing a stool test to see what else could possible be going on. You can do this through doctors data or Genova. Personally, I prefer doctors data. If you do this, include the one with parasites. Stool testing has been very helpful for me and others to assist with pinpointing what's going on in the gut.

Yes, your GP can. The best SIBO test are done at a facility or hospital, but you can order this through Genova as well. Also, the stool testing can be ordered by your dr. I live in a state where I can actually order these tests directly myself (no doctor needed), send my samples back, and get results. My first-third breath tests, were done through Johns Hopkins hospital . After that I just ordered online for follow-ups.

My initial stool was through doctors data and I'm doing my follow-up now. My test just arrived in the mail today.

I live in Canada so I'm not sure if Genova will do these tests for out of country patients but I can definitely follow up with my doctor this coming week.
