LLMD in NYC (They're all booked!)

Hi everyone,

I posted a message a while ago regarding find an llmd in NYC and set about searching for one. However, it turns out they're all booked and it's insane. What are you supposed to do to get treatment?

Does anyone have any good llmd's that balance natural treatment along with newer things?

I've also paid a visit to a supposed lyme neurologist dr. y in nyc however the testing is quite expensive. So I'm wondering is it worth it to get a whole slew of neurological tests (my symptoms are mostly neurological/psychological) or wait to see an LLMD.

Any recommendations would be appreciated. Any referrals to LLMD as well.

I would agree with Sebreg about considering starting an herbal protocol of some type while you wait if you can't get in soon. We really need more doctors!

Also, do be sure that you are detoxing. This is a large part of our healing, as when the Lyme bacteria dies, it puts off toxins, and we generally don't do enough detoxing to alleviate the symptoms brought on just from toxins. While it's always best to talk to those that have seen a particular LLMD to better understand what to expect, if you don't get referrals from others, here are some other options:

​ You will want to find a well trained doctor, not one that has self proclaimed themselves as a LLMD or an ID Doc (Infectious Disease Doctor), as ID docs believe Lyme is hard to catch and easy to treat, and don't believe in the reality of chronic Lyme. I had a horrible experience with a neurologist so I really cannot recommend one unless you just want to throw some money trying to figure out you have lyme.

And, when I went to find my llmd the wait was 2-3 months to get an appointment.

Like Traveler said, we need more doctors.

Over the past year I've definitely tried all sorts of natural methods. To be honest I'm not exactly sure just if it is lyme that is causing all the anxiety and such. But I've tried various detoxing methods, and I'm sure that they help somewhat.

RSima - are they just booked for a few months out...or not taking new patients?

If they're just booked - then I suggest you book an appointment...and ask to be put on a cancellation list.


And...if you do find a LLMD that will take you sooner, you can cancel your other appointment.

'The' Dr. J. will treat via phone/skype after an initial consult.

I think you need to see him every 6 months though.

When I started treating just a little over 2 years ago I was able to get an appointment within a week with my choice of doctors. The same LLMD/ND's are now booking out 3-5 months for a first appointment. The longer you wait to get on a doctors schedule the longer the wait will be.
