So I went to my doctor today and I told him about my new symptoms that I was getting he told me to cease all antibiotics and start nilstat and diflucam for 2 months I asked about if we still are continuing with antibiotics he said you have been getting better so we will decide it after the 2 months I still have some symptoms like muscle twitching and and but of weakness in legs in saying that can be because of my bursitis but is it ok to leave everything ??or should I take minimal herbs he wanted to also see if any symptoms come back after 20 months of Abx..


Please help is muscle twitchin ok ?

I need to ask a few questions, Surm.

So, your doc pulled you off of all abx, and put you on antifungals, so he/she is suspecting that you have a serious issue with fungal/yeast issues, right?

Muscle twitches could be from your nerves not being healed yet.

Is it active infection?....or do they just need time to heal now. Nerves take a long time to heal.


I don't know how to answer that.

So, only symptoms left are muscle twitches and weakness in legs?


Keep an eye on your symptoms...and if any of the 'old' ones come back..then you will need to get back on treatment right away.

Also, how long has it been since all the symptoms left (excluding the two you still have)?

Ok so this is why he changed while on bio film protocol I was getting a lot of dull headache and loose stools which I told him about he had me on just biofilm protocol for 3 months.

3 days -enzymes,biofilm defence
3 days- minomycin and azithromycin

I have been on abx for 20 months approx.

I now currently work 6 days get tired though also I do gym includes lifting weights.symptoms remaining are muscle twitches mainly and obviously fatigue and that dull headache I referred to above.

Hi Surm -

All good info posted already. I just wanted to suggest it was awesome of your MD to stop abx and address the yeast/fungal issue. This will likely reveal some good info if it is effective in rebalancing the y/f since so many symptoms overlap w/ lyme & co.

Muscle issues & dull headaches can be due to y/f overgrowth or lyme & co, as Girlie suggested. Mine was a little bit of both. Muscle twitching can often be either due to bartonella or maybe a magnesium deficiency - there are multiple threads about that here if you'd like to search.

Are you also taking a fresh, high quality, multi-strained probiotic? You might also consider a good binder (this and other suggestions are discussed further in the yeast/fungus post Traveler mentioned).

You MIGHT consider doing less gym activity until you aren't as fatigued and have less muscle issues. The fatigue can mean your body and immune system is struggling, which isn't going to support your treatment very well. Maybe when you gain some traction w/ the y/f issues you can get back into the gym? Just a thought.

Thanks Guys!!

I do take magnesium but i will up my intake of that.Also my twitching is all over the body at times its scary at times dont know what the decision is going to bring on table really scared.But i think whatever happens will happen just praying to god now.

Is anyone here whose muscle twitching still was there after treatment ??Also what is the best magnesium supplement guys??

Magnesium can give you diarrhea - warning.....

Someone here recommended it and I love it. I get mine on amazon. And no diarrhea.

Only certain types of magnesium will bring on diarrhea - magnesium oxide being the most common one to do this as it pulls water into the bowel:

I've been told a few times by different Dr.'s that Magnesium glycinate is the best for absorption.

...and bonus...it's not supposed to cause diarrhea in larger amounts.


I had all over body twitching, too. It scared me - because in the beginning prelyme diagnosis it was thought I had a pinched nerve in my neck...resulting in numbness/weakness/pain/twitching on my left side upper body.

But, then when I started to twitch in other places...not along the same nerve path...I realized something else must be wrong with me.

With treatment, the twitching is almost gone...I just get the odd twitch here and there...once in a while.

Maybe back off on your gym activity - as Pirouette posted...you may be taxing your muscles too much.

forgot to mention another symptom facing it right now insomnia every now and then:( Diflucan is a bomb first pill bleww my head off this is like my first major herx and now second day i cant sleep a lot of anxiety can diflucan do this ???

Yep! Treating yeast/fungal issues can cause a herx just like Lyme and Bart do!! Please increase your detoxing to help ease the herxing.

There is an amazing post by Pirouette at the bottom of page 2 of the "New to Lyme?" thread that explains a lot about yeast/fungal issues and treatments. I would greatly encourage you to read through it.

The twitching is the muscles is increasing 😏😏 I think it's Lyme taking toll could not sleep last night at all don't know if it's Lyme or candida.

The other thing I have noticed is that the muscles I work on in the gym are the more twitchy like I got a back massage and the whole back was twitching and the if I work on legs the legs will twitch is this common ??
