Success with Cowden Protocol and success with Biofeedback Therapy

Hi all, I was asked to give information about those in our Lyme support group in St. Louis who have had success with Cowden Protocol.

I was on antibiotics for 9-10 months and improved but hit a time where I felt it was not giving additional help after 6 months. After two diagnosed reports of leaky gut, I knew it was time to change to an herbal protocol.

I started a full protocol, tailored to what I thought I needed after researching the products Cowden recommends from Nutramedix. I also started Ondamed biofeedback therapy around the same time. The combination has helped me a lot especially the last 90 days as I am finally seeing improvement in my #1 symptom, chronic motion sickness. When this symptom first hit me I could not drive one exit on the highway without it making it unbearable. Think of a dock on a lake when a 50 foot boat goes flying by, that is what my world felt like. Now I am able to drive up to 150 plus miles per day and starting to have what I would call bounce free days. I need to be able to drive 200 plus miles everyday to get back to my job as a sales rep.

Two others in our support group are using Cowden as well. One is also using Ondamed. She has gone from having symptoms of passing out at work, air hunger, etc. as of this past April; to now feeling great. In fact, Ondamed has told her she only needs to come back on a need to basis.
The other is using Cowden and has improved but still has bouts of major fatigue and pain. She is thinking of starting Ondamed.

Two others are looking at starting Cowden with one of those also showing interest in Ondamed.

We all use the Ondamed in Columbia MO where are LLMD is. There are some Ondamed options in St. Louis, one of those in our group tried one with no success.

Thanks Tigerwithlyme for posting this. I just have a few questions which could help others who may be interested in Cowden and/or contacting you directly.

Are you doing the exact Cowden protocol (i.e.month by month)? If so, which month are you in and exactly which herbs do you find the most benefit from or is it a synergistic effect? Are you finding the herbs pretty strong and having to titrate up slowly?

Thank you for posting about your improvements with these modalities, Tigerwithlyme!!! And congratulations!! Woo hooo!! I had severe issues with nausea as well, so I know all too well what even being the driver in a vehicle is like!! It's hard to find a place to pull over so you can get sick when you are the driver!

Hi Traveler, you are in our support group in St. Louis and thanks for all of your input on our Facebook webpage!! My motion sickness has no nausea thank goodness. I feel like I am in a rocking boat any time I am out of bed. Blessedly I am having some bounce free days. Also it goes away when I lay down. The wonders of Lyme right :).

I'm so very glad you aren't having as severe motion sickness now! That gets tiring so very quickly!!! Oddly enough, mine would get worse if I laid down sometimes! Thankfully, it's gone now though. Whew!

Great questions! I am not doing what they recommend to buy as a full Cowden by month protocol. The other two on Cowden are buying the monthly plan. I am doing what they recommend as far as antimicrobials. The top two that I use are Samento and Banderol. These are the only 2 products they offer in 1 oz and 2 oz sizes. I have also used the others they recommend in Cumanda, Enula, and Houtania (spelling). I usually use three antimicrobials per day. I take full doses they recommend (either 20 drops or 30 drops) twice per day on all three antimicrobials. I use two detox herbs - Parsley and Burbur, both twice per day. I also use their adrenal support, Pinella (which helps brain fog), their Magnesium, Vitamin C, and two sleep aids - Amantilla, and Melatonin. I did tritrate up but at a quick rate. I have only had a couple of minor herxes on the protocol.

I would say my improvement has been synergistic. Please ask any more questions and I will be happy to answer.

Wow. You are doing great. I do use the burbur, Pinella, houtt, and newly added in Takuna. Has anyone in your group used that? It packs a terribly mean punch.

So the Samento and Banderol are your mainstays? And you rotate the Coumanda, Enula, and Houtt? Is it based on your symptoms?

I will ask if anyone has used Takuna. I have not tried that one yet. I do rotate the microbials with Samento. Right now I am taking Houtt, Enula and Samento. I also tried Mora once as well. I am just rotating the first time around with the others to see how I do on them. I will switch back to Samento, Banderol and Cumanda next. I really feel an improvement is in taking out the bacterial and parasitic issue.

As far as how I get the rest of the motion sickness is the question for me. I will stay the course on Cowden and Ondamed, but I may add in Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation, or Dynamic Neural Retraining System (DNRS) which I started a separate post on to find out more info. I also tested high in toxic metals and will start a couple of homeopathic products from a company started by someone in our group that has gone through all of the trials with Lyme.

I wanted to share our success with Ondamed both alone and alongside meds or herbal protocols. Our daughter had chronic Lyme for 4 years. After see-sawing with meds that we never took for long enough, we did a huge blast of 3 kinds of antibiotics for 7 months and she got well. THe following summer she was re-bitten on a camping trip. We tried Ondamed twice a week, without any other meds, and she got better in 5 months. It was truly astounding.
