Ambulance to ER; Acute Pancreatitus

Saturday morning I woke up and felt a little unsettled in my stomach. I went to the bathroom, and the feeling continued. I felt the need to vomit and was amazed at the amount of dark red bright blood I threw up. I did not feel bad otherwise but it scared me so I woke my daughter to take me to the ER. I had gone down stairs when I realized I would need my drivers license. When coming back down the stairs I began to feel light headed and became concerned I might pass out. I had my daughter call 911. I had the sense that this might be Acute Pancreatitus (AP) as I had had mild forms in the past year and told the EMP's that.

I should pause to say I do not know if this is Lyme or hereditary or a combination. My father died of Pancreatic Cancer, but I do not know if he ever experienced Pancreatitus; he was very stoic and kept things like that to himself. But, I also know that Lyme affects the abdominal organs so who knows?

Long story short, they ran tons of blood tests, a CT scan of the abdomen and gave me IV Saline and multiple units of blood. After 36 hours the blood numbers had improved to almost normal. The GI Doc was familiar with Lyme and had patients with AP before, not good, but at least I didn't have to go through the politics.

Of course I was not so lucky with the Hospitalists as they noted in my record: "Questionable Chronic Lyme Disease), and recommended that I stop all herbals and supplements permanently. I was able to speak with my LLND this morning and she has refined my protocol to a minimum for the short term focusing on detox only to allow the Pancreas to "rest".

Has anyone had experience with Pancreas issues? I do not remember seeing it mentioned before. I will be seeing my GI Doc shortly as well as a Hematologist to try to determine what the underlying cause is. I discussed with my LLND the possibility of seeing an Endocrinologist as well.

What a horrible experience. Glad to hear you feel better now.
I had a problem with pancreas in the past. My LLMD told me that, even though my amylase number was high, to continue with the treatment, as it was not high enough to stop the treatment with abx. So now I am taking abx and herbs.
Did you have some other symptoms prior to vomiting blood - I mean, few days before it?
Have you been taking abx?

I know my thyroid works better with crypto...my hypoglycemia is helped with spirulina ...if there is blood in your vomit then there must be a rupture blood vessel ...are you clotting ok ..what are your platelets ...did the caturize anything ..i get bad pain with my hiatial hernia ...sorry shuttergy...docs are no better than butchers we would be better with vets sometimes
