Beta blockers for heart symptoms

My cardiologist keeps trying to give me beta blockers for my heart palpitations, irregular heartbeats, etc. What's your take on beta blockers fellow lymies? My herbalist told me they are a no go.

Only you know you better than anyone. What does you primal instinct say to do?

My LLND prescribed one - Propranolol. But, not because I had heart palps or irregular heartbeat (I don't)- but he thought it would help with my nervous system 'shivers'.
I didn't want to take it. It also lowers your bp. My bp is already on the low side. Sometimes it's 100 over 68 and I don't want it dropping lower.

I am focussing on treating the infection...I am starting to think my shivers are Babesia - because often after the shivering, I will start to sweat. I don't have anxiety.


Is there any danger to not treating your palps/irregular heartbeat? Is it just discomfort?

He claims it's not dangerous but I feel like it is. It's uncomfortable and scary to me. He says I have a nervous heart but I just don't know what to do. :/

Nervous heart? Lyme does cause irregularities, it is the inflammation from the Lyme causing it. However since my BP was borderline high and I was often tachycardic with a heart rate that would zoom into the 140's I started one, Metoprolol, in 1990 and have been on it ever since. I have not had a problem with it, you will be a bit more fatigued for the first couple of weeks when you start it until your body adjusts. I definitely feel it when I miss my dose, though. My heart was also irritable, from Lyme.

Metoprolol is what he gave me in June and now but ive been so scared to try them . My bp is usually around 115/120/70/80.

I mean that as 115/70 or 120/80. I wrote that weird. Every time I get to the hospital or cardiologist, the irregular heartbeats and palpitations stop. It's so annoying! I'm getting another echocardiogram in a month and he said that if I still have the irregular heartbeats, they will yet again put a Holter monitor on me.

What dosage did they prescribe? 25 mg won't drop you too low probably but have a home bp monitor and record your readings. Beta blockers also reduce the work of the heart and can improve an irregular heart beat. Does your cardiologist also acknowledge that you have Lyme? And that with treatment for Lyme that your heart may improve completely?

My funky heart was always my marker when I needed to start on antibiotics again. I would have 6-7 PVC's a minute and it would take my breath away. I also had the joint swelling and neuro with low grade fevers. After a week on Doxy it would go away. For many, many years my pcp only knew about Doxycycline so every few months or so he would prescribe for me. That kept me going for years and years.

Just enough to keep my symptoms down but not gone. It is only the last 3 years that I have incorporated other antibiotics in the mix.

Yes 25 MG. No, nobody will give me antibiotics because I was told I don't have lyme because I have only 3 positive bands but the 3 I have are lyme specific bands. My local health food store are the only ones who are,helping me and have a knowledged that I have lyme.

So the health food store made lyme kill herbal treatments for me.
