Looking for LLMD in Iowa

I've been sick for four years. Diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, chronic migraines, chronic daily headaches, tinnitus, musical hallucinations, several spine issues. My muscles keep getting tighter. The list goes on but you all understand. I saw a new therapist last week that brought me back to the idea this could be Lyme. I need to find a LLMD in Iowa or a neighboring state. Thank you in advance!

misdiagnosed, first I would like to say welcome to our forum! I am glad you are here, simply because I have been in the position you are in for many years as well and just recently found it to be lyme. And it is through this forum that I have received the advice and encouragement I needed to move forward.

I would like to ask you to read the "New to Lyme-start here". It has a lot of great information that will be helpful to you.

I live in Iowa also and it is very hard to find a LLMD here. But I did find one in Chicago. Would that be do-able? I will email you with the information.

I would also like to suggest that you get tested through the Igenix lab in California. You would need to call for a test kit to be sent and then have it signed by your Dr. or Chiro. Then take it to a local lab. It takes about three weeks to get results but would be helpful to have when you see your LLMD. If you decide to do this, tests 188 and 189 of the Western Blot will be sufficient.

Thank you SO much! This is very helpful! My memory and concentration issues cause me a lot of extra work. I thought I needed the LLMD just to request the test from Igenix. (Luckily I have a very supportive husband that usually helps with the details. :) ) I will be calling for my test kit this morning and spending time reading more in the new to Lyme section.

If I could do a cartwheel right now I would. :) I'm sure you understand how excited I am that there might be an answer to my pain.

I live in Iowa. I have a list of LLMD's, though it may be a bit outdated at this point, but most of them are in either Minnesota or Wisconsin. Well, the ones with a reputation anyway. There are a couple I have heard good things about, whereas the ones in Iowa I haven't heard much of anything, unless they were in the paper for getting fined about something in relation to treating Lyme patients.

Yeah, I honestly was in such a hurry that I didn't check. I saw someone mention setting up the email option, and I just went with the pack mentality.

edit: hope you got those. actually contacted the person who sent me them way back when to see if there's an updated list. will let you know, if so.

Thank you all so much! I ordered my kit from IGeneX today. Now the waiting begins.

Jeff....thanks for the Columbia, MO reference. He popped up in an email from someone else too. I think so far that is the closest.

Girlie thanks for letting me know that about posting emails. :)

Misdiagnosed, let me know if I can help at all. You can send me an email and I can usually help get you in earlier than normal with the LLMD in Columbia. Right now he is running 6-8 months out. I myself don't get you in earlier but by giving suggestions on what to do has helped several get in very quickly.

Not sure where you are in Iowa, we have a member of our group that is in Sioux City. She is coming down to speak to our group in November.

This is a great community and so much help to almost any question you have!
