Does anyone pulse Mepron? I'm currently taking 5ml of Mepron twice a day with Azithromycin 250mg twice a day. My LLMD doesn't know much about pulsing , in fact I sometimes feel like he's just phoning it in half the time. My symptoms are mostly neurological at this point and I think they're probably more Bart but after trying Rifampin for months my LLMD wanted to take a shot at Babs. My symptoms get worse during my period and my period has been falling on the same week as the full moon.

So when it hits I have swallowing difficulty, major vibrations, head, face, throat pressure, pins and needles, twitches, headaches, face aches . Also my right foot gets really buzzy and weak.

I have all these symptoms throughout the month but they are way less severe and sometimes they are so mild I get lulled into believing I'm almost there healing-wise.

Also, I've done lots of herbals including Byron white, beyond balance, Buhners full Bart and Lyme for over a year. Been treating for over 3 years and so tired of it all. Spent so much money it makes me heartsick, had a miscarriage during this time. Feeling kind of defeated but trying not to.

So any help, I'm grasping here. Thanks

I have never used Mepron. Usually a medication is pulsed because it is too heavy on the body to have it long term. I have been pulsing Flagyl, still felt very sick. I guess, the only way for you is to change your Lyme doctor or ask him more questions until you feel you can totally trust him.

I also bought dr. Horowitz's famous book, there is so much information you can become doctor yourself. :))

Kitkate - I haven't taken Mepron.
But, I started pulsing my protocols - including the Bartonella one. I have decided to do this based on Dr. Jemsek's theory that pulsing allows the immune system to 'kick in' on the days/weeks off.

I have seen a couple of his protocols that do include Mepron - and it is also pulsed.


I have the vibrations, too...and them (coupled with nerve pain) are the ones that bother me the worst (along with pressure in the thoracic area.

How long did you treat Bart for?

Thanks VLG, I think I will get Dr. H's book. This is my 2nd LLMD by the way and frankly I can't afford to got to another one at this time with the extremely high cost of the first visit.

Girlie, thanks for replying as well. I treated Bart with full Buhner for about 4 months and rifampin + azithro for another 4 months.

Do you know what the Mepron pulsing schedule is by any chance? Or anyone else for that matter. Thanks all.

The pulsing schedule depends on the LLMD.

I've seen several of Dr. J's protocols (from patient reports) and they're often M/W/F

and at some point he has the patient take a week off. So M/W/F two weeks on, one week off.
I don't know how far into the treatment he has the week off kick in.

Kitkate, my son began treatment 2 weeks ago. His LLMD prescribed pulse Mepron for the next t 5-6 month.
Schedule :
3 weeks ( Mon.-Wed., Fri.) Ceftin 500mg twice a day + Azithromycin 500 mg one time a day ,
at the same time (3 weeks ) Mepron every day (2 teaspoons twice a day) .
Fourth week is off for all the above three medications. But during this week off - Coartem 24 pills for 3 days.

A year ago I had similar successful treatment for babesia , pulsing Mepron every day , 2 teaspoons twice a day(total 4 teaspoons a day), 3 weeks on , 1 week off during 5 months, but for the fourth week instead of Coartem I took Alinia.

I had two first line severe symptoms : sweats during day and night, chills after sweats and extreme heart palpitations and.... a bunch of other Lyme symptoms.
Mepron was pusled for 5 month(4 teaspoons a day) together with IV Rocephin +
Azithromicyn(or Biaxin) + Alinia. Was successful for babesia( sweats and palpitations almost disappeared )and also helped to reduces several other symptoms( such as brain fog, fatigue, shooting pain and twitching ).
