I've recently been diagnosed with lyme. Have yet to start treatment. Think I've had it since childhood. As a child I got sick lots. High fevers lots. Sore throat lots.
My lyme has had many flare ups now that I look back and my most recent one I am still currently in. It happened 4 months postpartum. My daughter is now 2.5.
Last year I got really sick this exact same time/date. It started with sore throat and high fever. Then I broke out in a crazy rash which I posted pictures of recently. Then it would effect my ears and my voice and then a cough that last forever. In fact, I have a Hernia now because of last winter. They treated me for mono and strep and nothing. I never recovered. I was sick until April. Had fevers. And this thing kept coming back in the same sequence. Doctors had no clue and suggested maybe my mono test was incorrect. I gave up looking for answers. That's been my whole life. I'm used to no one figuring me out and just suffering through it. I literally can't remember ever being so sick for so long in my entire life. Like normal people sick. Not weird lyme symptoms if that makes sense. But in no way was this normal.
Fast forward to a year later and it's starting again! The exact same symptoms. The exact same time. I just missed a whole week of work. I'm still just dying. I see my naturopath friday but thought I'd see if anyone has any input.

I just can't believe 1 person would get the same virus 4 times in a winter and then get the same exact thing exactly a year later. It's not a typical cold with the rash and all. Wouldn't my body build some sort of defense if it was a virus instead of repeatedly being hit so hard by it? I'm so confused.

I hope your naturopath will get you a lyme test through Igenex lab. That is a very reliable lab for lyme disease.

I am so sorry you have had to deal with this for such a long time. It is not unusual, but boy is it exhausting for those that go through it.

And, to try and run a home and raise children???? You have to be so very tired. I am so very sorry.

I hope your doc helps you. If not? You can order the Igenex Western Blot test yourself - test 188 and 189 and they cost $210. But you will have to have a chiropractor or md or llnd sign the slip to get the blood draw.

I've done the Igenix test and it came back positive. I keep meaning to post he results add people on here seen to be waaaay more educated than I am.

And thank you. It is very hard with a toddler. I don't have the energy she deserves. We watch waaaay too much tv. Her dad and I are doing our best to be a great team. He is physical daddy. Takes her to the park and for walks and swimming lessons ect. I do crafts and cuddles ect. When I feel good I really take advantage of it. But it's only gradually gotten worse. My spine doesn't allow me to do alot and old symptoms are creeping back. I'm a wreck. Even though treatment scared the crap out of me I'm determined to get better so I can be the mom I'm meant to be. She deserves it. So do I. If anything. I wish I could afford to stay at home. Work is killing me. Killing. Me.

Well then you need to be in treatment. I hope your naturopath is schooled in lyme disease. That would be so excellent for you.

If your naturopath has any hesitation on treating you for lyme -- I am sorry to say that you better look elsewhere.

You cannot heal lyme disease like you can a cold or a virus. It is a bacterial infection and it doesn't just go away.

As you have discovered.... it continues to come back and each time doesn't it get worse?

Treatment is the option I would choose, but the choice is yours.

Hang in there and you will get through this. Many have. It is not an easy, quick fix. But totally doable.

Yes. I've already went and got all my supplies. I actually have two doctors working with me who seem very knowledge and confident. But I have a few more questions before I get started. Plus it took me a bit to come up with funds for everything. Also had to wait to see what to do about hernia surgery since I got the diagnosis. Ect. I meet with him on Friday to go over everything again and so I can ask questions and hopefully he has some insight on what the heck this virus thing is!

Lyme can roam in cycles. And it would not be unusual for you these symptoms to be lyme and not a virus. However, lyme can also make your immune system go out of whack.

But, I think it sounds like lyme symptoms that are rearing their head.

if you have a virus it can be reactivated, so you have phases when its dormant then active. EBV is typical with this, and often works with lyme to keep you from defeating it. every 2-4 months i have flare ups of swollen glands, sore throat (not mucus or coughing) and blocked sinuses. But EBV Mono) can mimic lyme and my dr says you can sometimes not tell which causing what. im trying some antie virals IVs for it soon.
i also have a toddler so completely understand how you feel, i feel guilty everyday, and cant lift her up anymore. the other day she said "mummy, do you live in a bed now?" :( its heart breaking. xx

As Waterbee said, EBV - the virus that creates mono - never goes away. It can lay dormant for decades and suddenly reappear, just like herpes viruses do. I've moved away from pharmaceuticals for this, and use Lysine. If you are interested, I can post articles showing that Lysine is effective for these and other viruses.

My kids are all grown up, but I raised them while living with Lyme and company with all the viruses I have as well - not easy, but kids don't need to "do everything", they need a parent that's there for them to listen and to be with. That's what my kids told me after they had moved out of the house for college and I apologized for not being the Mom I thought I should have been to them. They actually scolded me!! LOL!
