LLMD prescribed Mino. for new symptoms. Thoughts?

I have been having some heavy/odd feelings in legs and soles of feet. Not pain per se, just something not right. I emailed my LLMD with my new symptoms and his nurse left a voice mail that they called mino. in for me. I have never taken it and don't do well with most abx. Is it stronger than Doxcy? What should I expect. I know we are all different but would you take it? I took Doxcy. for six weeks and finished that the last week in August. Thanks.

Mino is easier on the stomach than doxy...but harder on the head.
One of the side effects is dizziness. This may be because it penetrates the blood/brain barrier well.

The dizziness went away after awhile on it.

My LLND had me start on half dose - 100 mg once daily...before going to 100 mg twice daily. I suggest you do that as well.

THANK YOU! Oh no. Dizziness was my first lyme symptom and my nemesis. Well I suppose depression is worse. How is that way? One drop of red sage practically put me under. Not sure I can handle Mino. This LLMD cost $950 for visit and is a fortune every time after that. I would have appreciated more detail "Yes, he thinks you have Bart so take mino." OR "He's suggesting this to bring overall bacteria down." Something. Oh well does it even matter.

How long did you take it for, why were you taking it and did it alleviate symptoms? Thanks. I don't even know how long he prescribed it for.

Mino alone isn't enough to treat bart. Maybe he will be adding another med to it.

I started taking it summer of 2015, added Rifampin at the end of summer.
Switched the mino for biaxin in November...then back on the minocycline again (February of this year I think)

But am now only taking it M/W/F two or three weeks...then one week off.

I requested it because I wanted something specifically to penetrate the blood/brain barrier. It helped alleviate the balance issues I was having...and the pressure in my head behind my eyes.

I went off it for a few weeks in the spring...and I started to feel the pressure in my head again...so am back on it..

Mino is on my waiting list :) My lyme doctor prescribed it as my next antibiotics, also because it is more efficient than Doxy. But I haven't started yet. Start slowly, I agree with Girlie. Good luck!

Would you say your Bart is almost gone? Sounds like a very long protocol? Do you tolerate abx well?

I don't have any head pressure, balance or eye issues. I almost wonder if I should just wait a few weeks until all my testing is in. Not sure what to do. I do have long bone pain in the shin and slight heaviness in legs for past 5-6 days. I also get worse in weather changes and we are in one.

What to do. Where is that crystal ball?

Huddie - I don't know if my bartonella is gone yet...I know there's still something going on. Maybe it's Babesia...I just don't know.

Part of my issues could be nerve damage...that needs time to heal...not sure...not sure how to tell.

I was concerned that I was still not healed after a year of bart treatment...until I discussed this with a few people.
One person who sees the bart guru, Dr. M. - said that Dr. M. says often it takes over a year to treat bart...bart is stubborn.
Another person who lives in my Province - she was treating her infections (one being bart) for 3.5 years.
She has been off abx for about 7 months now...and is doing well.

So, I'm going to stick it out a while longer...see how I feel.

I do tolerate the abx pretty good, I'd say.

When you find the crystal ball...could you throw it my way, please?

Minocycline.

It's one of the antibiotics used to treat Lyme...also with Rifampin to treat Bart.
