My new doctor prescribed Tetracycline as my first antibiotic. My insurance is through Kaiser and my new doctor is not a Kaiser doctor so I am not covered by any insurance for his appointments and/or meds.
So the Tetracycline was $1000 for 60 tablets. OUCH!!! But we got a coupon from GoodRX.com and presented it to a CVS pharmacy and only had to pay $45!!!! My husband and I just checked the website for potential meds that I may have to take and all so far have amazing discounts!
I don't know if eventually it'll be too good to be true but even the doctor's office says they have patients that use the coupons all the time.
Check it out!!!! GoodRX.com
Please let me know if anyone else has had a good or bad experience with it.

$1000 what a bunch of crooks and they wonder why our healthcare system is completely broken and out of control.
what you should do is have all medications written by your primary in-network doctors so you can get it covered. have a heart to heart with your primary doctor to see if they'll do it. worth a shot if anything.

Unfortunately Kaiser will only recognize Lyme if I test positive w/their test, ie CDC. I had one dr tell me there was no such thing as Lyme in CA. Really????
I have thought about
going higher up though and fighting them about
this. We'll see.

Then your better off having a European dr prescribing it to you. Buy them in Europe, Mexico....Canada?? They are cheaper. All health care outside the US is at least half of what we pay here.

I have used goodrx and there are a few others also. It's worth it to check out any other pharmacies available -I saved almost $200 taking refills for 3 abx from cvs to walmart. I was a little leery but the pharmacy department is very professional. The staff was very helpful and usually willing to help me find the best deal. Same product....
My insurance is now exclusive to cvs but the coverage is better. My llmd charges a larcenous fee to do anything with rx insurance and most of my drugs were not covered.
I'm on herbals now. Hoping they remain unregulated even if it means buyer beware and careful.

Nobody here in San Diego are I ever tried accepts these goodrx coupons. NOBODY. Worse, they look at me like I am some idiot with 3 heads for believing it. Now that I can no longer walk, my wife refuses to even try they are SO vocal about
it.

We have a lot of resources for prescript
ion assistance in the "New to Lyme?" thread. I believe they are on page 2 of that thread.

I use goodrx often. I have two prescript
ions that I fill monthly, which my insurance suddenly decided they would not cover. So, using goodrx I pay about
$150 for a $400 rx, and $30 for a $200 rx.

Just Mike: That sucks. Have you tried going to other towns close to SD? I also heard that you can actually negotiate prices with pharmacies when you don't have insurance.
