So my LLMD thinks my case is super "interesting" because we caught it early and treated extensively.
I caught it within weeks of exposure. I did 3 weeks of doxy, 1 week of amox, 2 months of ceftin and azithromycin.
I don't know your history so I must ask, how did you catch the infection within weeks of exposure?I don't live in a Lyme endemic area. Of course, I'm sure there are lyme cases here but it's pretty rare. My pediatrician had to google Lyme. The pediatric infectious disease had seen one other case of it. In any case, we don't have pets and nothing about
the area we live in or frequent is even slightly rural or close to nature.
I visited a highly endemic area and apparently stayed in a tick infested house or something. We saw deer and mice around the property. I found ticks on my kids after they played outside the first day. My father also had a tick on him as he was outside with the kids. I checked them frequently and daily after that and made sure they didn't go in tall grass. I watched and waited as they say. about
a week after we returned, my father developed a bullseye rash which prompted me to get the two kids with ticks on them tested. I started to feeling achy fingers and slight headache or slight neck ache but wasn't sure if it was bad sleeping position but the achy fingers was a new to me so I got tested. Never felt that before. I came back CDC positive, which prompted me to test my two other kids even though I never found ticks on them and they didn't spend as much time outside. One of those kids came back positive even though she wasn't really outside that much. Later one of the first two kids came back positive and the third child had some lyme specific titers present. My youngest child who is a mobile baby came back totally negative for all titers. My mother and husband later tested positive as well. All the positives were acute.
Despite antibiotics, my symptoms (achy fingers and other transient joint pain) weren't totally going away so I found a lone LLMD here who recently moved down from Long Island and he put me on longer antibiotics.
