Advice on method of treatment/diagnosis....Is this legit!?

We have a gentleman, who is a Chiropractor, in our area who has been diagnosing and treating Lyme. He doesn't diagnose with a blood test. He puts certain things in/on your hand and see's how you respond.

His treatments - going forward after that - are around $600 for the first month (and you are taking about 30 different things per day) and then go down to $200 per month until ... whenever he says you are better.

All of his treatments are herbal and eastern medicine.

A LOT of people, in my area, go to him. I have never heard of someone NOT diagnosed by him. That said, a LOT of people swear by it.

I'm having a very hard time getting a Lyme literate Doctor in my area. Do I go down this route? Has anyone seen/heard of this?

Placing things in your hand and seeing how you react to it is called applied kinesiology (AK for short), the idea being that if your body resonates with what ever "it" is it will make your muscle response stronger, and if it doesn't agree with you it makes your muscles response weaker.
Honestly I wouldn't be able to look someone if the face and try to pull this off, but like you said there are people who swear by it. There is a little science behind it when used for testing for strained/sprained muscles/ligaments but it is a big leap to say it can be used for other things. The art of AK is very easy to abuse and I have personally seen a lot of scam artists out there. On the flip side there are few really good practitioners that seem to be able to use it with precision. Personally I always thought it was more of a placebo effect and that's why I don't rely on it for diagnostic purposes.

about the Dr.
If you live in an area with a high rate of Lyme the Dr. you are thinking abut going to is more than likely helping people get better. By treating people with anti Lyme herbs the odds are in his favor that he is going to get it right every now and then. In my opinion the science behind the herbs, although not thoroughly tested with clinical trials, is more sound then AK.
Last there is no substitute for experience and it sounds like he has a plenty of it. It is crazy how you can read something millions of times but until you have experience with it you really don't know what to look for. In the end you don't need to go to a Dr. to get herbal treatments most of that you can do yourself. It really just depends on how comfortable you are with the Dr. versus treating yourself.

I would ask how many he has treated and how many has he healed.

I did herbs all on my own with the help of the internet, books and this forum.

It can be done..... I am healed.

It was not easy. I had to write everything down and boy did I make some mistakes. It certainly would have been a lot easier for someone else to direct me, but I just could not find the right person.

Maybe have a consultation just to see how you feel with this doctor before you jump in with both feet.

Is a chiropractor diagnosing patients with Lyme even legal? I'm imagining he's misdiagnosis lots of sick people with a disease they may not have.

My issue with this is he sounds too expensive. Some of the top llmds their first session is only $300

I think that if your Chiropractor is well respected for helping people with Lyme then that should be your starting point. Its all trial and error anyway if it doesnt help you you can go elsewhere.
It sounds like you are unfamiliar with kinesiology but alternative treatments are part of a complete recovery from lyme and if you Chiro is good at what he does then he will be able to sense what will help you the most.
Lyme is expensive. The LLND and LLMD in my state in Australia are charging $400 aud and then you pay $600 plus, to get the testing done overseas, and that is before you have to shell out for all the supplements and meds you have to get. Your Chiro sounds very reasonable, and given he is highly recommended,local and available you should go. All the best. May your recovery be swift and affordable.

Did he give you a chance to recount all of your symptoms? That right there is called clinical evidence and carries more weight, in the end, than tests do.

I agree with what most said about his methods and charges, but one big red flag went up for me when you said, concerning length of treatment - " whenever he says you are better."
Are those his words? He can't make that call, only you can.

Keep in mind the power of suggestion, and placebo affect. I don't know how long you've been infected, but your treatments could take upwards of a year or more.

Is he cash only? Most LLMD's are, not sure about chiro's that treat.

PetZa, Huddie suggested I reach out to you. Ihave been sicne since end of January. Only diagnosed with Lyme a month ago after 4 tests. I am going to Hansa Center in Wichita, KS early next month. They are the real deal in getting thebody in balance.

Naomi, we have a member that took his daughter to the Hansa Center and she is doing really well now. I have heard many good things about that place. I have never been there.

But, I do know this about lyme. We all are different, we all have different symptoms and we all require different treatments.

There is not one thing that works for all of us. No special pill......

So, I recommend you try out the Hansa Center and give it a go and if it isn't to your liking or it is not working out, you can always change to something else.
