Sharp stabbing pain in my heart - what helps?

I am ill for 5 months now and have abxs for 4 months. I have had some stabbing pains in the heart before but they usually go over quite quickly. But today I have a lot of them, long lasting episodes - 15 min. Stabbing is pulsating if you know what I mean.

My heart has been checked, USG, Holter Monitor, mid September, everything was fine. I wish I could just ignore those pains, but they make me nervous. In the same time I hate to go to ER. :(( They do not have answers there really... just to exclude heart attack really.

I took some magnesium and valeriana now... it calmed down a bit... but I am getting worried.

What is your experience with heart pain?

I'm sorry you are experiencing this it is scary. My son had this last night and my intuition told me it is from Meds/Babesia.

Which meds are you on? He is taking Mepron, Zith, Mino. - I personally think it's the Mepron hopefully clearing out Babs.

I am all day in the bed and I am feeling less pain. I have also been praying like crazy. I didnt want to go to ER so badly. It is still Sunday here and I was not able to call my LLMD.

I havent started to treat Babesia yet, just got Melarone ordered but I havent started.

I am not sure I have Babesia, as my sympotms didnt match. I think I have Bartonella. At the moment I have Amoxi, Flagyl and Doxy. But I didnt take afternoon tablets as I thought - I am probably killing too fast... so difficult to understand what to do.

I will try to call my cardiologist tomorrow, maybe he can give me some additional tests.

I do have detox problems I guess, waiting for answer from 23and me.

Yes, at the time they were probably invading..i had chest pains!

And other times as well too!

Not recently...but yea that could be a symptom.

HEart came out normal and everything else! They couldn't find anything.


oh WELL...Now I just take the PAIN! lol...if it ever happens which is not often for me...but I know it's probably the bacteria dying off or moving.

Lymedriven - I certainly hope they have stopped invading my heart. because I have had abxs for 4 months now. It is horrible that symptoms are getting worse, not better with time. How can that be?

Does it mean my antibiotics is not working? :((

If they have checked out your heart and cannot find anything, as your Doctor about Costochondritis.
I used to have pains like you describe that felt like my heart, and I would go to the e.r. sometimes once or twice a week. They ran numerous tests and said that I was alright but the cartilage in my chest was deteriorating. Actually they said "rotting", which freaked me out.

The old country dr. I was seeing at the time put me on time release nitroglycerine, which oddly helped, but the University Hospital took me right back off of it. They blamed Fibromyalgia, but their ideas of treatment were useless.

It wasn't until coming to this forum did I learn it actually has a name. I also learned here that Lyme bacteria destroy the cartilage in our bodies.

I have horrible shooting pain, it is terrifing. I decided to go to emergency to get ECG. I will not be able to sleep with so much pain.

If you find out that your heart is fine and not involved in this pain, yet the pain persists, try warming the painful area with a heated rice bag.

Here at home we simply partially file a sock with rice, tie it off and warm it. I was going to say in the microwave, but due to my following comment I have to add "don't stand near the microwave while it's in use".

Don't use electric heating pads because they emit electromagnetic fields that can further stir up symptoms.

Did the e.r. refer you to a pulmonary specialist to have you do a stress test? If anything was going to happen, putting you on a treadmill would indicate something.

If they didn't and you have insurance, I would contact one and see if he thinks you should have more testing.

The e.r. can send blood samples to a lab to check for certain enzymes (I believe) that indicate heart attack. Did they do that too? The thing is, there are other physical reasons why you would get that kind of pain in your heart without being a heart attack, but still be a heart issue. I think a stress test might bring it on, and they can 'see' what's happening when the pain starts.

My personal experience years ago when I had this kind of pain with Lyme, was not so much my heart turning out to be bad, though that's where the pain felt like it was coming from. I did the stress test. I had high blood pressure, and the the dr. there started me on medication for that.

I am back from the hospital now. My ECG was good, no changes, BP good. No stress to heart, they measured troponin levels in the blood for heart attack. They discharged me 3am :))
But now I need to find a cardiologist who could do heart USG to exclude Carditis. And if that is OK, I need to do a test where I do exercise and they will measure my heart rate and ECG. After that we can talk about something else like Costochondritis.

This morning after my small sleep, I have less pain and at least at bit less worries. But I need to convince my cardiologist to give me tests soon. Because they do not do those in the emergency department where I live.
