Lyme Teens and Friends (And lack of)

Why dont you go to FB and join some Lyme kids group. There must be several mums in the same situation. My daughter is 7 and much better at the moment so she has no problem with that. But I guess for the teenager it must be very very difficult. I think it could become her life line if she could write and talk to somebody in the same situation.

I wouldnt worry about talking to strangers. Encourage her to talk to the girls, not boys to make it simpler. I think it is a great idea.
I have made some very good friends in Lyme group and I have lost many friends from my previous life who are not bothering with me anymore because I am ill. Lyme is a very lonely illness... I am glad you decided to help your daughter.

It only has 147 members so fr, but at least it's a place to socialize with other kids with Lyme.

We had a link to a website in our intro, but the link didn't take me to an active group, so I don't know if it's still valid.

It contains valuable information you're both going to benefit from. You can compare her symptoms, read about the importance of "de-toxing", and provide your daughter the means and instruction on getting into the habit of it.

There's info on yeast overgrowth, and diet, along with helpful links for healing these aspects, which seem to get in the way of beating the Lyme.

Feel free to ask us anything, cry on our shoulders, or help interpret tests, which some here are good at.

Hey there, guys. My teen daughter has chronic Lyme Disease. Sadly with all her health problems, most of her old friends have decided it is "not worth it" and don't talk to her anymore. The ones who stayed are sweet- but they don't get it. She has expressed to me several times that she wants a Lyme friend, someone who understands. I actually asked my mom if she was the author of this post, because I am a 15 year old girl with Lyme disease who also turns 16 in march. Like your daughter, I have also been searching for a lyme friend. In march of 8th grade I got so sick I had to drop out of school, and I haven't seen any of my "friends" much since. None of them even bothered to text me and ask how I was doing. My mom had to orchestrate everything, and even so, they just don't get it and they just don't care. It's a pretty horrible feeling. Naturally, I am incredibly lonely. Do you think there is a way I could converse with your daughter, such as texting or email? It seems like we have so much in common! I understand though if you feel uncomfortable with her talking to someone you don't know.

Hi! This is a great post. My son will be 15 in June.

He is going through all of this. He began a new high school so his old school friends pretty much disappeared. He had to drop sports at his new high school, and all the boys bond over sports, so he has pretty much no friends. His really good friends were on his ski racing team but he cannot ski this year.

And he is an only child.

It is the worst case scenario of loneliness. He's sweet, funny, compassionate and would love to chat with someone. My private email is listed under my name. If you write to me I will give you his email/text. Just a text saying "Hi, I have lyme too" would go a long way.
