I'm wondering if it's Bartonella that you need to target.

Your neurological symptoms since the month of Rifampin?
Could be a bart herx?

Neurological symptoms can be from Bartonella ( not just lyme)

One month isn't long enough, to know if the Riffy will work.

sounds like Bartonella to me that heart thing is what i get it's not your BP and your heart is fine but it feels like its thumping and doing weird things right?

i would push your LLMD to try bartonella protocols for at least 4-6 months and see how you do. its a very persistent infection esp when it settles into the smaller blood vessels around your chest cavity. it took me a good 6 months to get the stabbing chest pain that made me cry to decrease to something still painful but more throbbing (and still stuck there 6 months later).

bart is the worst of all the tick borne infections in terms of its persistence. i've heard very very few stories of people who've had it for at least 4-6 months getting asymptomatic.

i used to do rifampin/doxy (then switch doxy out for biaxin) for about 4 months earlier in the year. for the last 2.5 months i've been on rifabutin/minocycline/bactrim. rifabutin seems to be gaining in popularity to be a more effective rifamycin for bart (at least according to a few well known LLMD's)

I can't get Rifabutin...unless I travel to the U.S.

I would see a biological dds for a checkup before IV. Mercola.com has articles on the toxins that jaw bacteria kick out inches from brain. Thought you many be interested

Rocephin is the most common IV abx, but I just want to tell you that it causes gallbladder issues, so if you decide you want to try it you must protect your gallbladder.

While I can't say what you are experiencing for sure - but I experienced a herx that lasted for 12 months (the entire time I used pharma abx) and it only got worse and worse as time went on. It finally ended (because I stopped abx against my doc's advice) with me having late stage Dementia symptoms, seizures, passing out randomly, massive amounts of pain, massive gut issues (but not candida) and more.

In studies, overall, IV abx are no more effective than oral, unless a person need to avoid putting abx through their gastro tract - then it's the only way to go.

The more severe the Neuro issues are, the more likely it's a combination of Neuro Lyme and Bartonella combined in the same body.

This thread interests me because I feel like I'm making no gains on oral antibiotics and herbs. I wonder if maybe my stomach just isn't metabolizing the meds and herbs.

From what I've read/seen - pairing a macrolide with a tetracycline for bart - seems to be more effective if you are treating it early...as in months (less than a year), and not years of having symptoms.

I have not read anyone healing bart with that combo who have had it longer.
(It maybe possible, but I haven't seen/read that, yet)
