I'm new to this myself so I'm not sure I can give you any more insight than you already know. My case and my kids (I suspect 3) were acute and the symptoms have been persistent but mild. I don't think any of us have really suffered like so many here do, which I think makes me a little more moderate than some here. I personally think that there are some LLMD and doctors in general that if you look at things hard enough *will* find something. I've been chiropractors a number of times in my life and while I saw some benefit here and there, I've never met one who told me everything was a-ok....there was always something wrong and I'm sure my posture and balance or whatever wasn't 100%, but I'm not sure anyone's is. It seems to me like your doctor has tried to help you but kept finding new issues with novel treatments and I just wouldn't trust it that much. You mentioned that there had been years of antibiotics so I'm assuming you tried the more traditional approach at some point. I'm not really sure what I would say other than that after all this time and years if you still haven't seen vast improvement, I would try a new approach.
Also, I did take my kids to see the famous pediatric LLMD and if you are anti-antibiotics I probably wouldn't waste my time. He's very very very traditional. He believes in antibiotics and he believes in using them heavily. He was very vocally critical to me of another famous LLMD in DC who I saw for myself and he does not believe in even pulsing antibiotics for Lyme and co-infections. So I don't think he would be the one for you.
I did like the DC doctor who also sees kids. He does do heavy antibiotics but he pulses them so that your immune system can learn to fight the bacteria on its own. Made sense to me but I'm no scientist.
