Thoughts on Brenda Cosentino's way of healing the body

The only input I can say is whatever treatment you try, give it 4 weeks before giving up and trying something else.

And always remember there are many paths to healing, a way that works for one or a few may not work for others.

And, who ever finds THE best way to heal that proves to work for everyone, will end up either very wealthy or squashed.

No, not yet. I've been watching chickenarise's youtube videos and still eyeing my horse ivermectin with fascination and fear.

I thought ya right....parasites ...but now after attecking it as a bacteria and seeing it move like a worm ..georgia hunter said it share dna with protozoan and helminith ..that it makes sense ..

i thought dr k thinking of russian nesting dolls made sense go biggest to smallest so thats what ive done ...helminith protozoa bacteria then viruses ...i have jumped around a bit , testing has infact shown i have had giardia and ascaris ...only had 1 ice cube in mexico ..it was enough ...

who actually goes through their mess to see if a worm was expelled and who would admit ..well at a distance i saw rice looking kernals and had eaten no rice so i did standard gi test ..bs ...then i did a genova ..same bs ...then finally used a university lab with darkfield anaysis and then put a name to it .. after treatement with herbs alinia iver and herbs ...i say herbs 2x cuz it was a lot and exotic ...my stomach pain is almost gone..

when i had normal flora i think it was kept in check when i did that 1st abx in 30 years it rocked me cleared house and let the opportunitistic bugger take more ground .herbs clear flora ..but unless you are doing neem and art ..probably arent touching it ...imo

I did the humaworm parasite cleanse, basic buhner herbs (jk, cc, andro), and try to eat close to Wahl's. When I first became sick I was evaluated for MS and being the researcher that I am I quickly found out about Terry Wahl. I started her diet and my symptoms lessened greatly. I am not sure if they would have lessened without the diet.

I have been on the Green Dragon Core protocol (herbs above) for a year now. I tried some of the bart & babs herbs for a few months last year but did not continue on them. I am not symptom free (probably about 75%), but I think the herbs are keeping the bug load at bay. But I walk a fine line, over the Holidays I had some worsening of symptoms (jaw pain/tightness, insomnia and a new symptom of feeling like I have a lump in throat or something pushing on esophagus). I did not eat my regular diet and was also staying in our vacation house that has had water damage and currently a leaky roof. So, diet or mold is a factor for me.

Thank you for all the inputs everyone. I am about to order the bulk herbs she recommends for the bowel/parasite cleanse to start. Trouble finding a few on mountainroseherbs as they are out of stock or dont carry some like sweet annie. Any suggestions on where else to order?

I have read through her blog many times as I googled 'cured lyme' over the years and her site comes up.

While I like her overall approach to health in general and agree with her conclusions about a healthy diet and pharmaceutical drugs for the most part I personally don't put very much stock in what she is saying about Lyme disease specifically. She acts like she has good intentions and wants to help people but she strikes me as being a bit clueless. She is very thorough in her explanations of her herbal preperations and recipes, but I doubt these alone would be the ticket to anyone truly suffering from chronic lyme.

In fact in her about me section she lists 10 other conditions that she 'cured herself of using food' and only mentions Lyme and Coinfections very briefly almost as an afterthought. SHe is basically promoting the idea of a cure all not just for Lyme but for depression, chronic fatigue, alcoholism, bipolar disorder, fibromyalgia and many other conditions. She claims over 1 year of complete remission from lyme and coinfections.

If she was able to go into remission using these methods alone one must assume that she had a very mild case. She does claim that she was on her 'death bed' and her highly complex self taught regimen brought her back to life and solved all of her chronic diseases.

I am all for success stories, but my skeptic alarm goes off when reading her claims. Most of her blogs about Lyme arent really about Lyme at all but just her bragging about how healthy she is now and how much she can do now that she is in remission.

Could some of her methods be of benefit for Lyme sufferers? Sure but I don't personally believe they are the blueprint to complete health and remission that she seems to be claiming, at least not for severe Lyme cases.

She likes to attribute some of her success to 'swimming in the ocean and walking barefoot on the beach in Mexico EVERYDAY sweating and sunbathing and breathing in the cleaner air." Almost as if she thinks anyone could just go buy a second home in Playa dell Carmen Mexico like she did. She must be a millionaire. The types of regimens she describes would be nearly impossible for someone who isn't retired with a lot of extra money, or has nothing but leisure time and money to spend on farm fresh organic foods and herbs everyday all day. She isnt just talking about things we can all get at the local whole foods, and in reading some of her recipes you wonder how she sources some of this stuff at all without being acquainted with local food artisans or knowing several farmers personally where she can stock up whenever she feels the need.

It's almost 'elitist' for lack of a better word and she is so casual and matter of fact about suggestions that would be extremely difficult if not impossible for the average person and just addresses them as if they were completely obvious and simple like she is describing how to iron a shirt or paint a house. "Brenda, its just not that easy."

She strikes me as very flippant about Lyme itself, and discusses it only in passing never touching on the true complexities of the disease in terms of testing, and other factors that Lyme sufferers grapple with. She mainly focuses on the idea of parasites. Lyme as anyone who visits Healing well knows, is an extremely complex disease, and while she may (or may not) have cured herself through healthy foods and parasite cleanses and herbs, her overly simplistic and lacking approach to lyme is a little too good to be true as far as Im concerned.

Its also important to remember that she is PROMOTING her own website (which is edited by her husband) and although she is not really selling anything directly on her site, she is dropping name brands left and right and you can bet she is being compensated to do so, and judging by her google result prominence with key word searches, someone is paying a lot to promote and host her site.

Longwinded I know, but I have given a lot of thought to her and others who claim to achieve miracles through diet alone. There is just more to chronic Lyme than that. This may sound harsh but it's just my honest impression.

I just read this post, as it was in the awesome list of old posts that TheDudeAbides brought up for me in regards to treating parasites.

Since I have read Brenda’s blog site and was inspired by her and Dr. Rawls to use Buhner’s protocol when I was left figuring out how to treat on my own, I thought it would be good to comment, especially in light of logmoss’s critical assessment.

I can totally see how/why logmoss said what he did. However, seems he possibly missed some key information that is in her blog. That is the following.

Brenda followed Buhner’s protocol and went up to full doses of the herbs, even in the face of severe herxing. She did say she took periodic breaks to detox more, but my impression was they were short breaks and her herxing was hard.

Somewhere in her blog, she says that she believed that many were not reaching remission because they were taking too low doses of herbs. Even Buhner (in spite of the fact that he concedes some people have recovered on tiny doses) says that herbs generally have to be taken in largish doses to be effective. Brenda said she repeatedly saw people on Lyme forums who were trying to avoid herxes and did not continue to full doses or they quit.

I believe there’s some truth to that. I am one of those super sensitive tiny dose people. I have been taking herbs for going on 4 years now and am nowhere near remission. I had/have major mold issues and MCS (much improved now). Whether pushing through herxes would have healed me or killed me, I cannot say, as I always backed off.

I have been on this board for over 3 years and have seen many here who did Buhner’s. A lot of people tried to cherry-pick a few herbs and ignored the rest. I do recall some who went all in or started at Buhner’s recommended doses. They herxed but kept going and didn’t post here often. I don’t remember specific names, but I am sure some of them got on with their lives just fine.

My point is, while Brenda makes it sound easy and she definitely recovered much quicker from Lyme/co than most on the herbs, she also had done some other key things prior to starting the herbal Lyme/co protocol. Years on paleo. Then Wahls paleo. High nutrient foods. Amalgam removals. Gut cleanses. Parasite treatment. Very likely all that prepared her body better for treating Lyme/co, and it worked well for her.

I read what order she did it, and I bypassed the diet changes, the cleanses, the parasite treatment and went straight for Buhner’s protocols. Didn’t work so great for me.

I wish I had taken the time to do the gut cleanses and parasite treatment first. It’s creepy and scary. I still am trying to tip-toe my way through this area. If I ever get the nerve to get fully in the water with this parasite business, I might actually find the relief from misery that I’m looking for. If I do, I will definitely tell about it.😊

I don’t believe she is a fraud in any sense of the word. She started her consulting after she recovered and studied for it. Everyone has a right to make a living, and she gives a lot of information away for free. I emailed her a couple of years ago to ask her a question and she answered me.

Our former mod, Traveler, moved onto studying herbalism, as well. I hope she is doing well and living her dream.

I know someone locally who recovered from Lyme and now has a consulting business as a nutritionist.

Most people who forge their way to recovery from a difficult illness like Lyme are often changed for the better by what they learned along the way and have a desire to study more about herbs or nutrition or whatever helped them the most. They usually have a genuine desire to help others recover, as well.

As you probably have experienced, most with Lyme drain most if not all of their finances and many become unable to work. I am one of them. If I fully recover, I have interest in working somehow with herbs or healthy home or housing industry for safe, mold free housing. If I do, I won’t be working for free, but I won’t be robbing people either. I have doubts if I have the entrepreneurial skills to do what I know the world needs, but who knows what the future holds.
