Has anyone dealt with chest pains that are sharp over the left side, sometimes thinking it's the heart. It does move to the center and to the right but rarely. It's been over 2 months with several trips to the ER and several cardiologists. The pain is so sharp and constant and that's why I'm searching for answers from others that have experienced this, no one seems to be able to help me including my LLMD.
Desperate for help.............thank you!

I have dealt with that for years and had a lot of heart test a few years ago but it didn't show anything. Lyme and the co-infections seem to attack everything in our bodies.

I'm having that. I think it may be some of the meds I'm on causing it (zith in particular). I haven't had it formally checked with an EKG or anything, but my LLMD has listened to it (when I wasn't having pain) and another doctor and seem to think it's okay to proceed so far.

Thank you for the "hint" about
the search button, I put chest pains in and nothing came up to my liking, but when I just put in chest pain lyme disease, I do see all the posts, thank you so much! And thank you all for the kind words and concern, just a really bad night again........

Yes I too thought I was having a heart attack the pains were so bad but I have found it to be spasms attributable to low magnesium.

Oh let me join the club! I've been to the ER twice for fake heart attacks (which ended up being diagnosed as panic attacks, though I still stubbornly stand strong that the panic attack started hours after the pain did!!)
I'm hesitant to say anything as I don't want to be the one to make you question your treatment, but I did retrospectively notice that every time I started having those episodes of chest pain (2-3 hours, sometimes every day for weeks!) it was correlated with azithromycin. Part of me wishes I'd never made that connection myself, as the azithro was working well in other ways. But, just to be safe, consider whether it could be caused by something you're taking rather than the infection itself.
Otherwise, remember "this too will pass" - hang in there!

Anyone reading this should consider googling "Costochondritis". This is more likely your problem then say lyme disease, especially if you are female.

I have had chest pain and a pinching sensation. I do have POTS, caused by Lyme. it is orthostatic tachycardia (high heart rate) caused by dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. So, it's not a cardiac condition, but is a neurological condition that causes the heart to overcompensate, hence the high heart rate. I had tons of testing done on my heart and everything was normal. The tightness and pinching in my heart/chest is from the tachycardia. So, that may be something to look into. Is your pulse rate ever high? If you can, take your pulse when that occurs to see if your pulse is high at that time.
Also, like others mentioned, some abx., especially azithro. can cause heart problems.
That symptom sure is scary though, isn't it?!?! it's so difficult because Lyme makes our bodies SCREAM "something's wrong", but the testing and Drs. can never find anything and say not to worry. LOL, like that's possible! Spend a day in our life, right, LOL?!?

Hello- I was diagnosed with Lyme two months ago after being bitten by a tick. Went through 21 days of antibiotics, now on another round of different antibiotic for a sinus infection. This is new to me and I'm doing the research. What a nightmare. My main concern just now is that I'm feeling heavy chested and have pain in my chest. I went to the doctor yesterday and he dismissed it by saying I was breathing through my nose and because of the sinus infection I was not getting enough air into my lungs. What a ridiculous answer because I know my body and I know that regardless of breathing through my mouth or nose, it's challenging. My concern and question has to do mainly with the chest pain (and also neck pain - my entire neck, front, sides, back of neck). I understand that severe consequences of Lyme can be inflammation of the heart. How do I know if this is happening to me and I should go to the ER? Does anyone have any experience with this? How does one know if this is just another mysterious symptom or a threat to my life? I don't know what to do just now. My other concern is menengitis, which I understand can be the other life threatening problem. I have no fever, just an incredibly sore neck. I would appreciate any input/advice anyone has from their personal knowledge or experience. Much thanks from a single mother of three teens in Tampa. I never knew a Boy Scout kayak trip down the Peace River would result in this. My current meds are cipro, tramadol and a very small dose of lexapro for anxiety.

This is an older thread, so you may want to cut and paste your post to a new thread so you get a response. People don't always reread the old threads.
At any rate, welcome to the forum! You should read the 'New to Lyme? Thread at the top of the forum page. It has a ton of information for new members.
What you are describing sounds like 'air-hunger' to me and that is caused by Babesia, a co-infection of Lyme. The stiff neck, which I myself am suffering from at this moment, I believe is only a classic Lyme symptom. You need to find yourself a Lyme Literate doctor so you are being treated properly and for the correct amount of time. As a general rule, people usually treat for 2 mos. longer after their last symptom disappears. Depending on how long you've been sick will determine usually how long you treat. Although, some co-infections are notoriously harder to get rid of like Bartonella--that what I have.
The good news is you are treating and it's a great start to your healing. This is a long road to travel but many, many people fully recover. Good luck!

YES! I've had the chest pains before (about
two years ago) that migrated from left to right to center, and they varied in intensity from tingly to dull to sharp, and like you, felt I was having a heart attack or something. They did eventually go away but returned recently. about
two weeks ago I felt a dull, sometimes sharp, pain over my right chest that would throb and then go away. It would happen throughout the day. about
a week ago, they migrated to the left side, same sensations. The last few days it has centered and became somewhat sharp, but in short pulses. When I wake up I don't have any chest pains but once I get started with my day they start to come on and throb or pulse throughout the day. I went to my general doctor early December and asked for an EKG just to check and he didn't find anything unusual. He compared it to my last EKG of two years ago and there was one peak that was so slightly off that he said he could be 'over reading it' out of caution but he didn't think it was serious. He referred me to the cardiologist but I haven't gone yet. Chest pains are probably the scariest symptoms (for me) so far as it's easy to panic and feel something is wrong with your heart. I'm just hoping these pass like most of my symptoms have so far. I'm now going on my 4th year of having LD! I also had babesia (sometimes wonder if it's back) and bartonella

Ace - This thread is almost 4 years old - since the last person posted.
(I'm not sure if you realize this)
I'm sorry you have the chest pains...
Have you treated for bartonella, too? Bart can affect the entire cardiovascular system.

Try Hawthorne and motherwort. If you do take thyroid meds, Motherwort may impede T4 to T3 conversion.
