Chest Pains

Has anyone dealt with chest pains that are sharp over the left side, sometimes thinking it's the heart. It does move to the center and to the right but rarely. It's been over 2 months with several trips to the ER and several cardiologists. The pain is so sharp and constant and that's why I'm searching for answers from others that have experienced this, no one seems to be able to help me including my LLMD.

I'm having that. I think it may be some of the meds I'm on causing it (zith in particular). I haven't had it formally checked with an EKG or anything, but my LLMD has listened to it (when I wasn't having pain) and another doctor and seem to think it's okay to proceed so far.

Yes I too thought I was having a heart attack the pains were so bad but I have found it to be spasms attributable to low magnesium.

Anyone reading this should consider googling "Costochondritis". This is more likely your problem then say lyme disease, especially if you are female.

I have had chest pain and a pinching sensation. I do have POTS, caused by Lyme. it is orthostatic tachycardia (high heart rate) caused by dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system. So, it's not a cardiac condition, but is a neurological condition that causes the heart to overcompensate, hence the high heart rate. I had tons of testing done on my heart and everything was normal. The tightness and pinching in my heart/chest is from the tachycardia. So, that may be something to look into. Is your pulse rate ever high? If you can, take your pulse when that occurs to see if your pulse is high at that time.

Also, like others mentioned, some abx., especially azithro. can cause heart problems.

That symptom sure is scary though, isn't it?!?! it's so difficult because Lyme makes our bodies SCREAM "something's wrong", but the testing and Drs. can never find anything and say not to worry. LOL, like that's possible! Spend a day in our life, right, LOL?!?

Hello- I was diagnosed with Lyme two months ago after being bitten by a tick. Went through 21 days of antibiotics, now on another round of different antibiotic for a sinus infection. This is new to me and I'm doing the research. What a nightmare. My main concern just now is that I'm feeling heavy chested and have pain in my chest. I went to the doctor yesterday and he dismissed it by saying I was breathing through my nose and because of the sinus infection I was not getting enough air into my lungs. What a ridiculous answer because I know my body and I know that regardless of breathing through my mouth or nose, it's challenging. My concern and question has to do mainly with the chest pain (and also neck pain - my entire neck, front, sides, back of neck). I understand that severe consequences of Lyme can be inflammation of the heart. How do I know if this is happening to me and I should go to the ER? Does anyone have any experience with this? How does one know if this is just another mysterious symptom or a threat to my life? I don't know what to do just now. My other concern is menengitis, which I understand can be the other life threatening problem. I have no fever, just an incredibly sore neck. I would appreciate any input/advice anyone has from their personal knowledge or experience. Much thanks from a single mother of three teens in Tampa. I never knew a Boy Scout kayak trip down the Peace River would result in this. My current meds are cipro, tramadol and a very small dose of lexapro for anxiety.

Have you treated for bartonella, too? Bart can affect the entire cardiovascular system.
