Igenex results...Interpretation needed.

Hello again! So here are the results from the Igenex Western blot IGM and IGG tests.

Western Blot IGM
Igenex Positive and CDC/NYS Negative

Band 31 +
Band 39+
Band 41 I


Western Blot IGG
Igenex and CDC/NYS Negative
Band 41 +


Questions:

1. What is the main difference between IGM and IGG?
2. What does the I pertaining to Band 41 on the IGM refer to? (I'm assuming it means Indeterminate, not false/positive)
3. I know I have a co-infection..possibly multiple but tested negative for both Lab corp and Igenex coinfection testing (Bartonella, Rickettsia and Babesia). Should I just treat in accordance to my symptoms..with the help and guidance of my LLMD?

IgM shows recent or active infection, IGG shows chronic infection.
It means indicative - it is not negative but not strogly posotive as the others
Yes, you should always treat based on your symptoms. Lyme is a clinical diagnosis, and tests are not so accurate, for co-infections as well.

The I means Indeterminate....not negative, but not 'strong' enough for a positive.


No surprise the co's are negative.

But, yes, go on symptoms, response or lack of response to treatment(s).

I have also read that if you are really sick your test results may not show that. My LLMD said that some of his sickest patients have negative tests which why is why you should not rely on just test results.

If our immune system isn't functioning well...which can happen if someone has been very sick for quite awhile..then we may not mount a response and produce antibodies...resulting in a negative test result.

Resilience - did have an Igenex positive result, though..

Thanks for the prompt reply guys! Girlie, I'm wondering if the LDI which my naturopath has been using to treat me, may have caused Band 31 and 39 to be positive. I had a Lyme disease test prior to this and only Band 41 showed positive then...I know both tests are different but just wondering if the LDI may have altered/influenced the other bands showing up as positive.

Hmm...that's an interesting thought ResillienceR.

I know that LDI is supposed to 'calm' the immune system. (That's probably not the right term)

So maybe you're onto something.
