Anyone with Lyme had their gallbladder removed? Tips and experiences are greatly appreciated!

Congratulations? LOL! I had my gall bladder removed while infected - heck, I've done nearly everything I've done while infected.

I suggest that you plan to take longer to rest and heal - we don't recover like we used to.

Detox, detox, detox - both before and after. The medications you will be needing will come along with things that will need to be detoxed. Having a lower toxin load (even a day of detoxing can help), when you go in and then detoxing well afterwards will help you recover more easily.

Eat well and rest lots!!!

Sorry to hear you are having your gallbladder removed. I also had mine removed while in treatment.

It's crazy how such a little organ can cause so much pain and discomfort.

They pump you full of air during surgery and that air can get it places in your body and make you hurt a lot. if they haven't told you yet, it's good to drink something with carbonation to help get the air out after surgery.

I hope all goes well and you heal quickly.

Did you notice improvement after getting it out? My doctor thinks it's preventing me from getting better.

I did not notice improvement after I got mine out. I had one gallbladder attack and that was enough for me.

Do you have stones?? Mine just quit working. My Dr said it's very common for people with lyme to have their gallbladder removed.

I hope it helps with some of the symptoms you are having.

I had mine out 13 years ago while in remission. I ran my own pet store at the time and mistakenly went back to work too soon, like 48 hours later. Don't do that. I was in so much pain I regretted having the surgery at all, but come to find out I was hemorrhaging inside.

Go home and rest, don't lift anything, just let yourself heal and you will feel sooooo much better.

I wish you all the best on a successful surgery. My daughter is looking at it for next week sometime.

Mine was ready to burst when I had it removed, so I'm not sure if my experience is what you are talking about - because of course, I felt better!

Once it's out, you will need to also take bile acids to help boost the amount of bile your liver puts out, particularly when the food you eat has oils to digest.

I had completely forgotten about this!! Thank you for posting about it! I was miserable from this for about 3 days.

I had a hida (sp?) scan to detect my gallbladder wasn't working.

I got a HIDA scan and it showed it was functioning at 17%. I also have pain in the abdomen and nausea without vomiting. My LLMD says they think my body is focused on killing the Lyme there since it's a popular area for Lyme bacteria to gather. Im stuck at 25% better. They think once it's out I will start getting better at a faster pace.

For those who have had a gallbladder and/or appendix taken out: did you request to keep the organ so you can take it to a lab and have it dissected/inspected for spirochetes/bacterias/parasites/etc? I suffer from gallbladder/appendix pain a lot and am considering doing elective surgery to get relief and my husband and I wonder if it's possible to get organs tested. Is that even possible?

I had been made to believe I didn't have Lyme, and was operating under the belief I had Fibromyalgia, so no, didn't ask. It took me by surprise anyway, that they were taking it out, I was in the hospital for a few days being treated for a blood clot or clots.

And now that I think about it, those clot dissolvers they were injecting into my stomach every few hours must have had something to do with the hemorrhaging after the surgery.
They don't tell you anything.

Just had it out and in pain. Turns out my GB was on the wrong side of my liver!! The head surgeon at GW says he's only ever seen this once before. Between the pain, 16 percent score and it being in the wrong side he says it had to come out.

I am sorry you have to take it out but you gotta do what you gotta do. I need mine as I feel it is somehow intuitively pushing bile into my stool which at times greenish but not often enough to be concerned.

It is as if it knows the mold and aflatoxins get recycled in the bile and it dumps the bile from time to time and makes new bile. I love my gallbladder. I wish you the best.

Be sure to rest lots and take good care of yourself, particularly now after surgery. I hope you recover quickly!!


On the topic of having the organs removed from me tested for these infections, no I did not. Like Julymorning, I didn't k ow I had Lyme at the time the first two organs were removed,and although I did know when my gall bladder was removed,I wasn't aware that one could have organs tested. I'm not sure they were back then.

Glad you are out, it is out, it went well and you are now recovering! Please take it easy for a week or so, I'm assuming they did laproscopic, but nonetheless you are stitched up in there.

I have some really bad gas pain, which is basically CO2 air bubbles trapped in my body from when to pumped me up to make more room. I have oxy but it isn't helping. I read walking is the best way to get rid of the air. And using Gas X. Does anyone have any suggestions? It's awful!!!

Heat on the abdomen helped me. It takes time for the body to absorb the air that was 'injected' into you. Those products like GasX only help when the gas is trapped inside the intestines - the CO2 they put into you is not in your intestines, but in your abdominal cavity. It has to be absorbed.
