Since the beginning of my illness, ive had numerous eyesight issues. LLMD always told me it was due to Lyme and Bart, but stubborn me I went to the eye doc to confirm numerous times. My eyesight is always 20/20 with no issues at all. Though I have thyroid disease, the LLMD adamant that it isnt my thyroid causing my eyesight issues. The symptoms range from blurry in one eye, floaters, nearsightedness, farsightedness, and burning sensations. None of these occur at the same time.

Id like to hear how these diseases have affected your eyes, if they have. Thank you.

trader did you also get the Visual Field test done?

When I went to the optometrist - about a year ago...I told the Dr. I had lyme disease and wanted to check my eyes...she did the usual tests...sight was fine...in fact my distance vision improved that I can 'throw away' my glasses that I got when I was working (computer strain affected my eyesight)

But, she said it was important for me to have a Field test done - to check the full scope of vision and also check for damage to the optic nerve.

You might want to get that test done if you haven't already.

It's particularly important for anyone taking Plaquenil.

I have bart and most likely Lyme(only band 41 showed up positive) and I have a ton of eye symptoms.
I attribute most of my eye symptoms to bart.

-Blurry vision(gotten better with treatment)
-Red/burning/painful eyes
-Floaters(gotten better with treatment)
-Double vision(disappeared with treatment)
-Sometimes light sensitivity

DS complained of eye issues for several years before diagnosis but optometrist said he had no issues and was faking it. Meanwhile he was always asking for reading glasses from the dollar store because they helped him see text.

Then last year he started going crazy from eye issues and he finally needed glasses for distance. Then he seemed to have troubles again and I found a ped ophthalmologist who knows Lyme, checked his nerves (fine) etc and said his prescription had changed - one eye was almost normal again and the other was still bad. He ended up getting bifocals because reading bothers him so much and those are the glasses he wears the most now. So it seems to change frequently.

He also has floaters and brightness sensitivity but not often just when having a bad herx/flare.

If there's any way to find someone who understands Lyme you may get some relief from glasses/prisms etc. The hard part is that you can get a 20/20 reading but still have vision issues!

I have lost vision in both eyes. It's weird though. It's not "blindness". I can see through it. It's like this tv static shadow that covers my vision. It gets worse when I feel worse. It gets better when I feel better. I only notice it when I close one eye or the other. I have tons of floaters. This was my first noticeable symptom of lyme.

I had twitching in right eye but eye exam was fine. Also when I was severely sick with neuro Lyme In August/Sept 2016 I had like a black curtain or solid black bar coming down in my field of vision. I also had light sensitivity.
Thank God those symptoms are gone except for occasional light sensitivity.

I've had floaters for decades, so I can't tell if they are any worse. I also have cataracts developing, so when my vision when bad I (and my optometrist) contributed it to the cataracts. Detailed examination of the cataract six months later show that it is not getting any worse...but the vision has drastically worsened. Also a 3D laser microscan of the right retina revealed small white intrusions that he had never seen. He did not rule out spirochetes. The intrusions are about half the size of a retinal cell. IDK.
