Heart rate problems

I've had sleeping problems the last 5 days and then this morning when I sit up my heart rate increases dramatically like I'm jogging, when I lay down it goes back to normal any thoughts? This has happened one other time but it came with extreme pain in my chest. No pain today my chest has been a little achy but at this point that is normal to me.

What do u do for it? It's very uncomfortable

I have POTS...and it has gotten better somewhat with treatment.

My pulse still does rise when I stand up from sitting/laying. But, what has improved lately...is when I'm doing a chore like vacuuming - and having to bend over...pick things up off the floor...I used to get very fatigued after...and the past few months that has been better.

Lyme treatment definitely helps. At the peak of my acute symptom presentation, I could only walk or stand for 10 minutes, then I would have to lay down. I went from being an elite mountain bike racer (USA cycling pro card holder) with a super low resting heart rate to being and a sick person who had a 120 beats/min heart rate while sitting down.

This is hard for us Lyme patients but I saw a PT who specializes in neurology and she told me that if you can do some type of cardio like riding a stationary bike (even recumbent), it will help POTS and autonomic symptoms. She said if you can work up to five days a week and at least 30 minutes each session, that is what the research says is helpful. Some of us can't exercise much, but if you can it's worth a shot.

When I was an athlete, I would put in long hours of zone 2 base training to prep for each race season. Basically what that training does it allows you to do more work at the same heart rate or do the same work at a lower heart rate (less effort). So I assume the POTS research for this has been successful for the same underlying reason.

I've had the same issues.

Pre-Lyme my resting heart rate was 50-60.

It's now 80.

I've read Babesia really messes with the autonomic nervous system which messes this up, but I'm pretty sure any co-infection/Lyme can do this as well.

I spent from September thru late January thinking I had chronic fatigue syndrome. During that time, like mustard seed's, my resting pulse went from 55 ish up to 90 at one point. Once in a while, resting pulse would spontaneously shoot up to 110 for a few minutes while sitting still. Prior to beginning tx, it gradually started to come back down to 65-75 on any given day. No real change since I started treatment for babesia, bartonella, and Bb 2 weeks ago. My naturopath had me start magnesium glycinate 120mg bid to help with the tachycardia. Did it help? Maybe.
