I have been taking reservatrol for about 2-3 weeks (I know I should have wrote it down, I didn't, bad girl). I take 2 200mg capsules once a day. I was also on Doxy for 14 days for PID. Immediately after finishing the doxy I developed neck pain which over 4 hours turned into an emergency room worthy migraine followed by seizures and vomiting. The ER took me in right away as I had a seizure in triage. Gave me maxeran, toredal and benadryl which took away my migraine. Ahh relief. I'm not new to migraines and thought that it was over as my migraines have only ever lasted 1 full day. Well next day - neck pain and migraine. Pounded the naproxen and Tylenol to try and avoid a full blown migraine and was successful. Today - exact same symtptoms stiff neck, migraine reminants with the threat of becoming another full blown migraine. A slew of other old symptoms have returned. The only other things I take are vitamin C, probiotic and milk thistle. I need some opinions : as per Eva Sapis research did the doxy create cysts that are now hatching? Would they even become cystic at only 100mg 2x a day.. is it the reservatrol finally causing a herx now that I've finished the doxy? And finally, should I stop the reservatrol and see if symptoms subside? I cannot deal with migraines - there's very few things worse to me than a migraine. Help 😩

I would stop the reservatrol regardless if it's to blame or not, just to give your system a chance to recover.
I'm not sure how much Vit. C you're taking, but if you still have this going on after 24 hours of no reservatrol, stop taking that too, then stop the milk thistle if it continues until the next day.

I can't imagine the probiotic having that reaction, but who knows. I'm a little puzzled by this, the time lines are weird for your symptoms kicking in like that.


I have heard of bad reactions happening from the cessation of a treatment. I don't know or understand the mechanics of that, but this timing is bugging me.

It could very well be the doxy causing a herx...I'm unsure of your timeline...when did you finish the doxy?

I am so sorry your are going through this. Daily migraines and the ER. You win the Lyme forum today. I hope you feel better.

If you started Doxcy and then the symptoms began it sounds like it awakened something from hiding. I don't think the Reservatrol would do that. I did herx on Reserv. and it gave me insomnia but your symptoms sound like Lyme symptom, stiff neck, nausea, head pain.

I have similar symptoms this week but nothing compared to you. I will stop complaining after reading this.

Girlie - I finished my 14 day doxy script on Tuesday. Migraine started Wednesday morning.

July morning the time line is what's bugging me the most. I expected a herx DURING doxy treatment not the day I finished. I was wondering if maybe since it was only a bacteriastatic dose of doxy it had stopped the Lyme growth then it quickly began again after doxy allowing the reservatrol to do .. whatever it does.

Two weeks is not uncommon for a herx to happen. But it is quite the coincidence it was the day after you stopped doxy.

Did you have any other symptoms at all crop up during the two weeks you were on it...or any worsening?

Your reservatrol should be the same thing as Japanese Knotweed. Made from the roots. There is reservatrol made from grape skins, but Buhner says that's not what we want to be using.

People can and do herx from Japanese Knotweed.
It finally sunk in you were only on Doxy for 2 weeks, and that really isn't a very good length of time. It should have been at least 2 months or more.
My herxing was so bad from Doxy I do not remember how long it took to get that bad, but even if it took 2 weeks to achieve a toxic kill off over-load that would just be me.

It may be that is exactly what is happening, delayed die off reaction from the Doxy, added in die off from the reservatrol.

So you're back to support right now, no more killing until your system settles down from these headaches.
Support and gentle de-tox in which I would stay on the probiotics and Milk Thistle and see what happens.

Well, between the full moon and ovulating it's been a hell of a month. I've been on 3 different antibiotics for 3 different infections over 30 days so this is the first time in 30 days I haven't been on any antibiotics. The full moon brought back a ton of old symptoms so I thought for sure that was a herx. I did injure my neck on New Years but have had no problems since until now. I'm sensitive to dyes and worried there might be some dye in my vitamin C. I also had popsicles that had dye - like a fool. I just wanted something sweet and cold 😩 I have had flu like symptoms building for about a week now and it's all just come to a climax since Tuesday night

July morning - the doxy was for pelvic inflammatory not Lyme. The treatment is one dose of iv rocephin (ceftriaxone) and 14 days doxy.

The other two was a 5 day course of macrobid for UTI which was ineffective and 7 days of bactrim for kidney infection. All back to back

That doesn't matter. It's going to hit the borrelia bacteria as well as what was causing the pelvic inflammation. which could have very well been the Lyme causing that, the UTI and the kidney infection too! Doxy has multiple uses. macrobid is unfamiliar to me.
All three of those other abx will hit Lyme.

But even one month of multiple abx is not enough to rid a person of Lyme, except in rare cases of immediate treatment after infection, and a rebounding immune function.

As Girlie said, it finally caught up to you, multiple bacterial die off = toxin overload = herx.

my point was more, it was for the PID thus the short treatment time because I have no intentions of using doxy for Lyme but do understand it seems to have awoken the beast.

On a positive note, skipped my evening reservatrol, detoxed like a madwoman and I think I'm feeling better!

I do! Right now I'm just focusing on diet and boosting my immune system as much as possible. Naturopath has suggested low dose immunotherapy and I have a friend that does some energy work. Taking it slow. It didn't develop overnight so I'm not trying to be too aggressive just yet, I'm fragile at the moment.
