This is somthing I really struggle with, including the diarrhea at times.
The stomach pain is something I've had since I was a child, so it wasn't always Lyme to blame. I had a lot of stress as a child and I believe I developed an ulcer. I do sometimes have too much of an acid stomach. To avoid that pain I cannot eat anything spicy. Nothing with tomatoes, or peppers. Nothing greasy. All of which are my favorite way to eat, lol.
I couldn't eat pizza for most of my young adult hood. If I listed any commonality, it would be the stress in my life for the 'ulcer' pain.
Later on, an unknown amount of time after being tick infected, I suffered with the IBS, either constipation or diarrhea most of the time.
I always thought that was IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) and my drs. always concurred. Again, the main theme for when I got it was stress. With this it doesn't matter what or how much I eat. I can get it looking at a picture of food.
Got to love those disorders with the "syndrome" at the end because it always describes what happens, without saying what the cause is. I suspect there could be multiple causes.
At this time I have all of it. I get ravenously hungry with the knawing stomach. I try to eat, and can't eat have of it, then I'm either constipated for 3 days or am running to the bathroom every 15 minutes.
The only way I can handle this is to avoid eating anything at all when I'm unhappy or having any kind of problems. Very small snacks or meal portions of easily digested food sometimes works, simply because there is so little in the food to cause a problem. But that's no guarantee on some days.
I'm supposed to take prescript
ion Ranitidine for my ulcer, and naturally avoid foods that irritate it.
I don't always, but I am happy to say that when I take the Ranitidine like I'm supposed to, I have no problems with the gut pain at all.
