Great appt. with my regular Dr. (GP)

I've posted before how she has been supportive of my lyme treatment....accepts my diagnosis...gives me a standing order for liver function testing...she has spared no expense to help me.

Yesterday I went in for an appt. to ask for a renewal of my standing order for lab work.
I brought up the ferritin being low...etc...and she ticked off that for another test.

Then when I was telling her about my lyme issues and mentioned my LLND's name...she repeated his name and started to type in her computer (in my file)...and then said 'I have another patient who may have LD...'
So I stopped her from typing his name (don't want him to be known in the medical community just in case) - and asked her if she could instead give her patient my email address so I could give him information.

She said she would...and said "Well as you know the medical community knows nothing about lyme disease".

So, I just emailed her and gave her my 'lyme' email address...and told her how great it is to have someone who is supportive and open-minded.

If I can find my Under Our Skin documentary and make a copy of it...I'm going to give one to her...I think she'll watch it.
I'm trying to figure out if it's protected...and if I'm even able to make a copy.

She's a keeper.

EDIT - I forgot - I also asked her if MRI's are as good at detecting breast cancer as the mammograms. And she said she had one patient who had a lump on one breast found in the mammogram...then had an mri and the mri showed a lump in the other breast...and also the lump that the mammogram found.
She said if I wanted - she would ask the radiologist what he knows about mammograms vs mri's.

I would have to pay $875 for the mri - where as the mammogram is free...but I just don't want the radiation..and I can't see how crushing the breast tissue is good for it.

oh...I also asked her about Thermography...and she said she didn't know about the usefulness of it..

Wow, awesome! If they could all be like that. Gives me a glimmer of hope that there are some good ones out there still!

I was going to mention thermography. That is what I am leaning towards.

Girlie that is good news about your doc. I have no PCP because they all stink and I don't have the energy to keep searching.

I have been struggling with the mammogram myself. I haven't had one and I should get one, but I am afraid of the radiology.
