Interesting thread! One other thing to consider, besides adrenals is Gluthatione deficiency.
I was completely fatigued and would literally run out of gas in late afternoon, kept blaming it on adrenals.
I even got a p-script
for cortisone, and while I perked up a little when taking them, but it was day and night compared to how much Gluthatione cleared my fatigue. my Saliva test were slight under.
From what I read, just about
any major infection/inflamatory disease/Alcohol will deplete Gluthatione reserves. As we age with Lyme our digestion get poorer due to lower acid etc so the nutrients needs for Gluthatione production are not available in restocking quantities. so this easily leads to a deficiency that can't be replenished just with food.
In addition, this goes hand in hand with adrenals/tyroid. Selenium works hand in hand with Gluthatione, so the Selenium lows we have exarcerbate the Gluthatione deficiency by making it less effective. talk about
a double low.
Suplements for Gluthatione deficiency: NAC, Alpha Lipoc Acid (R-ALA or Na-ALA), Selenium and a few more.
Foods: Liver, Turmeric, Whey protein (Buhner recommends).
if you haven't tried a Gluthatione IV, talk to your doc / functional med doc/ and get a shot/infusion.
Nothing to lose, and a good diagnostic as far as I'm concerned. I perked up immediately and had lasting energy for days.
