Last night I saw Dr.L in Zionsville, IN. I just wanted to say that I though she was incredible.
She has been treating patients for over 12 years. The great thing about
her is that she knew all the info that I have researched on Lyme for the past year while being sick, and was able to give even more insight on the scientific details of everything. She also has tons of knowledge on both natural and prescript
ion treatments. We talked a lot about
Cowden, and Buhner and weighed the pros and cons.
She left it up to me whether I wanted to treat naturally, or with prescript
ions which I thought was a little strange, but her reasoning is that if someone absolutely did not want to use "drugs" and she forced them to, it would not work as well for them just because psychologically from the start they would be denying the medication.
For me, I chose to go the prescript
ion route for now to see how my body handles it. I have had gut issues in the past so this scares me, but I want to hit it hard and at the same time not spend a ton of money on supplements. I've already been down that path with not too many results.
She wants to put me on azithromycin and doxycycline for the treatment that would last anywhere from 18-36 months. She said she believes that I will start feeling better (or at least a change in symptoms) and if not, then I would have to switch up the antibiotics.
I did not start anything yet because I am having some heart issues and am having a stress test and echocardiogram done next week and apparently azithromycin can affect QT waves. She also ordered test for confections through MDL I believe, or Mercy Labs? Don't quite remember. Anyway, she thought this would help pinpoint which antibiotics to use as well.
Just wanted to share my experience and would love to hear thoughts and/or questions!
