I've run into this a couple of times, and twice last night (I am on day 3 from restarting doxy, tini, and rifampin).
When I see someone I know they appear as strangers, it takes me a few looks to realize who they are. very disconcerting.
my LLMD doesn't think it is lyme related, but I've seen some symptom lists that include trouble recognizing faces.

Ay, caramba!
I'm not sure why an LLMD would suggest it's not related - I think it's a fairly well-known symptom associated w/ the psycho-neuro set of Lyme & Co symptoms.
I've experienced it. I attended a good friend's wedding… very good friend. Have known her 10 yrs, we worked 4 feet apart for those 10 yrs and our front doors were 3 feet from each other for 5 of those years. Her sister was greeting people at the entrance to the event venue and I thought it was my friend. I hugged her, started talking with her, asked her why she wasn't somewhere getting ready… it was an embarrassing and very disturbing situation and about
2 yrs before I had my Lyme & Co dx or any understanding about
it.
More frequently for me, I'm seeing and recognizing people but feeling NO emotional familiarity, nothing, completely ambiguous and uncaring.
The disassociation is real and it's 100% due to the infections and treatment.

Hi Caramba,
I haven't had this symptom but just want you to know I'm thinking of you and hope this gets better for you.
I'm sorry you had to go through that.
Please stay hopeful and with treatment I hope this goes away.
Take care, Jo

Thanks Piroutte, I don't think mine are recognized without emotion, rather look like new faces.
I have to do a better job of journalling these occurrences. today at the LLMD I couldn't remember a lot of things that had happened since the last visit

I'm another one that didn't recognize the faces of those that I knew - as well as family members for a while. It most definitely can be a part of these infections and the toxins. It all cleared up for me when I healed the first time, although I do have days where it's an issue again, but not with family members again at least.

Caramba,
yes, it happened to me but not with people I knew for a long time. When I met someone new (for example at a job interview and we talked for about
30 mins) and after I went home I had trouble recalling the face. If they invited me for a second interview, I was worried if I could recognise them next time.
I haven’t met new people for some time so I don’t know how it would go now. Probably not too well because I have trouble with short-term memory. Never had an issue with that before lyme.
