AWFUL panic attack

So I had a mild panic attack after taking methyl b12 which I posted about the other day. But last night...I had one so bad it woke me up from my sleep and I felt like I was dying. I'm usually good at dealing with them but this one was insane. The only other thing I've done different lately was add in serrapaptese yesterday....Could this be a herx reaction to that?

This panic attack was very intense and unlike any other one i've had.

Unfortunately, the only way to know is to do it again. Are you working with a doctor? If so, I would encourage you to give them a call. Anxiety is horrible to deal with.

The panic attacks may be your herx too, meaning that it's how you will know that these things are working (man, I hope not though! I hate the anxiety attacks!)

fwiw, I think high dose inositol is supposed to help with panic

Panic attacks were some of my first lyme symptoms. I took the serrapaptese again this morning, I guess i'll gauge it!

i had a super awful panic attack in the middle of the night several times - I kept a calendar of all my symptoms and found that those awful attacks, worse than anything ever, with air hunger, came 15 weeks apart. Treated for Babesia. This week I was "scheduled" for another attack... never happened :-D (knock on wood, week's not over!)

I had panic attacks (amongst several emotional extremes) a couple times a day when I first started abx for lyme & bart… lasted for the first few wks then subsided. Detoxing helped tremendously but it all just took time.

The B12 is a tricky bugger. I can't remember all the science but B12 is involved in many methylation and detox issues due to how well a body can metabolize it. This is why it generally comes in various versions that are progressively broken down into lower, cleaner doses. You'll see "cyano" version that is synthetic but also probably the easiest to metabolize and has the lowest amount of B12 and this is why it is most readily available —it's the cheapest. When some venue is advertising "free B12 shots" - it's important to understand which type.

"hydroxy" version is a little more complex and has more B12, but less than "methyl" version. Do you know which one you took?

Might want to try a different version or cut the tablet in half. I've read that you can work your way up to a higher dose the more your body gets used to it - I can never get a significant enough reaction from it to try that.

And yes, it could have been a reaction to the serrapeptase. I'm not as familiar - hopefully others chime in.

Krimpet, i see that you take lipsomal glutathione..thoughts on it?

And i'm okay i'm good at dealing with the anxiety and panic i just worry more about why and whats causing it!

For me, panic attacks were not always associated with herxing, for a long time, it was just from the infections I had. Now, they stay at low levels, as long as I stay on my avena sativa and I do what I can to avoid stress.

For some, they are associated only with herxing, but many of us just live with them daily as part of our infections symptoms.

There was a certain period in my treatment of lyme where I had horrible nightmares and panic attacks in the middle of the night.

I would yell out "help me!" Something horrible was happening to me and it was scary. I would awaken knowing it was a nightmare, but just drenched and shaking.

I don't know if it was herbs or just another lyme symptom or die off or herxing or whatever. It was just what happened. I felt like an 8 year old and I am over 60.

I just stuck with the treatment and it went away, but for a portion of my lyme life, it was frightening as all get out.

I had terrible social anxiety and panic attacks that I thought were due to psychological problems, turns out it was all because of lyme in the brain. IV basically reversed the anxiety.

Focus on getting glutamate out of the brain. Try magnesium malate, Polygala works too.

Inositol would certainly be in tool chest when treating anxiety. I'd rather get it from my diet in oranges, cantaloupe, or my favorite, lemons. The interaction with inositol and phosphates is complex and I have yet to get a grip on everything that is going on with them intracellularly. I do know that glucose is a major problem and if you can't control GSK3, you will begin going down a path you do not want to go down. I'd recommend 5mg of lithium orotate starting at once a day for a week and gradually increasing up to 3 times a day if needed. Neurodegenerative diseases begin with GSK3. The good news is you can slow it down with lithium.
