Please take a few minutes and read through the "New to Lyme" post that's pinned at the top of the page. There is a lot of very useful information in there.

Word retrieval issues are a common symptom for many of us who deal with Neurological Lyme. The brain fog and the headaches can also be attributed the that.

In my opinion it's time for you to seek out a Lyme Literate MD or what we refer to as an LLMD. They specialize in treating Lyme unless the physician you mentioned is one.

Definitely follow the previous suggestions.

As previously mentioned, the brain fog, word loss, headaches are all pretty common Lyme & Co symptoms, symptoms of treatment herxing (the reactions to the treatment and toxin overload from all of the antimicrobial processes), and can also be byproducts of other issues going on like yeast/fungal overgrowth.

Our bodies need to detox at the same pace that we are killing microbes so that we can keep up with the treatment and benefit, not get bogged down in it. You'll also find that many people who suffer from Lyme disease also have trouble detoxing - either from a poor state of health or lifestyle or conditions like methylation and detoxing barriers that are part of DNA mutations we might have.

So there are a few things most of us need to do in order to properly detox that involve supporting our brains, guts, lymph and skin systems.

Gut-brain
Science finally caught up to the gut-brain connection with the discovery of blood vessels that link the two and this makes diet and gut health critical - and one good reason to be gluten-free. But it's also a good idea to eliminate unnatural sugars and processed foods, maybe even dairy. It's not forever but it can sure make illness and treatment easier on the body.

The gut-brain connection is also critical for us because nearly everything we take (antimicrobials or other support, foods) get processed in the gut and 70% of our immune system IS the mucosal lining of our intestines. No treatment can work w/out the help of our immune systems - yet another reason gut health is critical. To boost health and processing of treatment and detoxing, a lot of us are using binders that help keep us regular and move toxins OUT of the body more effectively (lots of info online or you can search here for binders).

Brain
There are a few good herbs that many of us are having success with to help support and detox the brain - namely, Pinella and Burbur tinctures by Nutrimedix. I have struggled with brain fog, word loss for YEARS and then started treatment and it got much, much worse and another dozen neurotransmitter issues compounded those issues. And I can always feel the benefit of the Pinella and Burbur.
- Parsley or cilantro are also helpful detoxing tinctures.
- Other things that might be helpful are anti-inflammatory tinctures like Japanese Knotweed, turmeric (my Lyme-friendly neurologist suggests that many neuro issues are caused by inflammation)
- and I also like a supplement called Huperzine - very inexpensive.

lymphatic and skin
A lot of gunk is moved through our lymph systems. Making sure you help your lymph system move and drain properly can help keep the toxins moving out of your body - lots of info online about proper dry brushing. A lot of us are also using a tincture called red root for lymph support. And our skin is our largest detox organ - sweating and detox soaks are always good.
