Have I been on Rifampin too long?

As long as your blood tests indicate your liver is handling the Rifampin it's fine. What are you pairing it with?

I think Girlie might be a good person to answer oral abx questions. I know she is away for the afternoon but will probably check in later today.

I do know that some people require months and months and months on these abx before seeing considerable change in sx. I have been on IV vanco for a year now… hoping to wrap up in a month or two. Bart is tricky - at various points throughout the past year, the bone pain would flare for me. I can't pinpoint anything I did that helped alleviate it - sometimes I think it just took awhile for the abx to work through the body. And I'm sure that's not very helpful when you're not feeling well today.

I agree w/ jrpsf to verify your liver enzymes have maintained.

Keep up the detoxing - it's so critical. Maybe evaluate new protocols to incorporate - ask what others are doing. Find ways to kick it up a notch or two.

Are you taking it 600 once...or 300 twice daily?

I took it 300 twice daily for over a year...and then my LLND switched the dosing to 600 once daily and I herxed.

I just recently switched over to Babesia treatment...and some new symptoms appeared...along with a few reappearances of old ones. Low level herxing is what I'm thinking.
This could be what's happening with your legs.

Continue to detox...and yes - do monthly or at least bi-monthly liver and kidney function tests.

You might want to switch up what you're pairing with it - the doxy could be changed to minocycline or biaxin.
Just make sure those are okay with the Rocephin (that's one I haven't taken).

oddity - I am 'feeling' the Mepron within a couple of hours...



Did anything change from switching the dosing from twice to once daily? Did you feel the bone pain before the switch?


Is doxy cheaper than the other antibiotics?

This Babs treatment is definitely pushing me to my limit...I thought Bart treatment was nasty until I started the Mepron.

Have you looked at ordering antibiotics online? (Not sure if you're wanting to go that route) - I think they may be more reasonably priced.

Minocycline is $1.70 per capsule for Wyeth brand - from ADC.

That's approx. $100 per month? (2 caps daily) - is that too much?

There is a cheaper brand - but it's a tablet - SunPharma brand. I haven't seen mino in a tablet...so not sure about that one.

oddity when you went to 600mg a day and started with this pain that tells me you're more than likely dealing with pathogen dieoff.

i was on rifampin for 4 months and rifabutin for 4 months all in 2016 so no you aren't on it for too long. the rifamycin class is very effective against gram negative pathogens like bartonella and also hits lyme in a unique way so a great drug all around. i've heard people on these abx for 2-3 years if you can believe it. as long as your liver and kidneys can hold up its ok.

ADC just covers their rear with that statement. I have never submitted a scrip

I've just found a couple more online Pharmacies - Canadian...so I won't have to worry about customs clearing them...and one actually said after the order is placed..their physician will approve or decline it...and if approved will write the prescription.

So, I had a discussion with my husband last night. He said to be careful because there are some fraudulent sites on the internet.
He placed an order...and never got the order...when he tried to call ...the number wasn't in service. Then he did some searching and other people had been ripped off as well.

So...good idea to use paypal with these companies....or use one that has been used by other forum members.
