Who has experience with Bactrim? I'm adding it in to my regiment of Bicillin injections. Just looking for some info on it and who's had experience.

It seems to hit me hard.

It was one I hadn't been prescribed in almost two years of treatment...until I saw a new LLND and she prescribed it to me in preparation for a trial of the LDI.

I had severe nerve pain in my back...like I never had before...I stopped it after about a week.


I am now back on it again...giving it a try...but am only doing half dose once daily currently (400 mg instead of 800) - so not doing the "DS" strength.

bluelyme - posted once it made his 'blood boil'.

I'm a little apprehensive because I read about the Stevens-Johnson syndrome and I can't get that fear out of my head.

I know it's an effective antibiotic...has some action against both bart and babs...

I've used it in several abx combos over the past years (way too many to list). I had no adverse reactions or excessive herx that I recall.

I tolerate it well. I have taken it maybe 5 times over the years. I use the smaller dose and take with Benadryl just in case it gives me a problem.

I have been on it for 4 weeks in combination with Mino/Rif and have had no problems (no herx or improvement yet).

I tolerate it fine now, but it did make me slightly anemic the first time I took it, as well as gave me slight insomnia.

Other people might have more significant reactions if you're allergic to sulfa medications.

Bactrim was a doozy sparked somekinda vasculitis /porphia...never been right since, its banned in uk ....was a 10 day for ear infection ...i dunno if it killed the bugs so quik and subsequent nerve damage ensued or if bugs ran and left osps on blood vessels lining .nurse thought it was mild sjs .idk was gunna try dapsone but its close to it in chem structure
