My new LLMD North of Boston ran a bank of labs that had not been run before.
"Some of your test results are back. Most significant is the nasal/sinus culture. You are positive for MARCoNS, resistant bacteria that create a biofilm. This bacteria, based on your individual report, is resistant to 8 different antibiotics. Only way to clear it (which is difficult) is a compounded combination with gentamicin, EDTA and mupirocin. Some of the labs are abnormal as well with low VIP and low VEGF."
I had not specifically been diagnosed with MARCoNS but it was assumed as I had been tested for mold toxicity. Still trying to understand VIP and VEGF; new terms for me. From the little bit I have researched so far, it seems these may have contributed to my stroke in December.
On a positive note, I am finally starting IVIG tomorrow. Someone had asked which Dx my Dr. used for approval. All, I know at the moment was Small Fiber Neuropathy and Polyneuropathy.
I will keep the forum posted on progress with the IVIG. If anyone has any insight on the VIP or VEGF I would appreciate your thoughts.
Thanks,
Ed
