That is theory, and I agree that we must study and do what we think is right.
BUT, the moment I was treating lyme and coinfections, Buhner hadn't written his coinfections book.
In 2005-6, his first lyme book was brand new. I was one of the first to start using his whole protocol, so he (Buhner) did not have experience either, as he was not seeing clients back then.
I overreacted to almost everything that was in the book.
Except for astragalus, everything else was like horror movie for me. I had to start VERY SLOW.
I think I could count the GRAINS of Japanese knotweed I diluted in water (in about
1 liter), and boiled it to sip during it the day.
The amount was RIDICULOUS, like the amount of salt I would add to a bowl of salad (but I took that spaced in one or two days!!).
If I took more, I crashed badly.
The theory was that herbs work in CERTAIN AMOUNTS due to concentration, and in certain periodicity. A bit like drugs.
When I asked Buhner back then in 2005, that I could only tolerate like almost 'nothing' of Jap knotweed, he was surprised, but didn't say 'push and take more'.
He's an
open guy, and with the years, he probably received other emails like mine, and now he affirms:
"Low or big quantities are both fine. Each person is different."
Are you all getting the picture?
The theory says we need certain concentrations of chemicals (both from herbs or drugs) to get a successful effect.
But I did Buhner's herbs (almost all of them in the first book) in RIDICULOUS amounts.
I NEVER reached HALF the dosage of any herb whatsoever, except for Astragalus, maybe.
And that AFTER 2 years trying them almost daily!!
I improved with one capsule of cats claw 3x day or something like that.
I could never stand 2 capsules 3x day.
Japanese knotweed helped me immensely, but as I said, I took it in minimum amounts, and I wonder how that could work even. 'Chemically' speaking!! But it was still doing something, because of my strong reactions!
I'm very afraid of Jap knotweed to this day! And this is herb number 1 for lyme, according to Buhner (today he says that, not in the past!).
The theory is that you need minimum concentrations, minimum time to let them act, minimum intake frequency. But the practice is not always that, as not everyone can stand that.
Just look at the 'minimum dose' issue!
--------------------------------
Then comes the 2nd part of the story: coinfections.
His first book was very weak on coinfections.
Of course I tried his babesia, bart herbs, supplements in 2005-6.
Well, they were LARGELY insufficient, so I did my own research on Chinese herbs, many of those he HE NOW ADDED in his new book!!!
I had taken Houttunia, Forsythia, coptis, gardenia... all those things that were NOT present in his first book as I was treating in 2005-08 or so, using his herbs.
It's all documented in lymenet, as I wrote everything I was taking then for these coinfections back then.
I had a huge disadvantage of NOT being able to tolerate herbs and supplements in great amounts.
But I had a big advantage of having learned to muscle test my herbs.
So some of these Chinese herbs I had took for Bartonella and babesia appeared in his book later!!
One thing I took, that no one knows, and helped me immensely was cardamon in powder.
It deals with babesia 'dormant forms' and Borrelia, in my tests.
Anyway, I could make a mix of herbs, decoctions, teas, took herbs in powder, as they energetically tested.
And I swear, that the amount changed daily (increase, decrease).
And after a couple of days, I needed a change of one or two herbs. So I did change.
And kept going.
There were daily changes, either amount or quality of herbs (different herbs, I mean).
Spices like ginger and cardamon also helped. I was also on frozen garlic supplements, for example.
Noni tincture, rizols sometimes.
Daily, I was taking about
40-60 DIFFERENT substances, because my tolerance for EACH of them was very low.
These 40-60 substances included herbs but also homeopathics, supplements (vit A can help killing as much as vit C, and Vit D, for example!).
So just picture the situation: about
50 different substances /treatments a day, but these kept changing slowly, but surely. All measured by energetic tests.
That is how I got rid of bartonella and babesia. With constant change!
I had been reinfected at least twice with babesia.
Bart, I have no idea, because it's the commonest tick infection anyway (more common than Bb), and I got bitten so many times that I don't really know.
Of course if you are on 5 herbs a day, and you change them, things would be different.
Buhner, Cowden, Zhang, Chinese TCM herbs, dr. K's products, Sanum products, Heel products, individual homeopathic support, kitchen spices (specially Indian), vitamin, supplements were my sources of treatment.
