Update on my mom

So as I had stated in a previous thread, my mom's feet felt "normal" for the first time in months. That lasted a couple of days, now they're back to feeling like they did before. While I told my mom that this was possible, it really disappointed her. She is at the point now where she wants to give up. She said she will finish the next few weeks of treatment...but if nothing changes, she's going to give up.

I don't know what to do. I mean, I don't even know if she's going to get better from this, but I just want her to keep going. But I also understand that the shape she is in right now, she's sick of living like this. I'm just at a loss right now sad

Kari - Is your mom currently herxing severely and that's why she wants to give up? Or just tired of the treatment schedule - the IV's, detoxing, etc?

I'm sorry, Kari - I hope she sees some improvement in the next week or two to motivate her

Girlie - she's not really herxing. It's just a lot of medicine she has to take...and all of the medicine is giving her diarrhea (TMI, sorry). If she could see some obvious improvement, it would give her the strength to keep going. But at this point, she still isn't sure if she can believe it is Lyme, and I am tired of trying to convince her of that too. She's also worried that even if it is Lyme, what if she doesn't get better anyways? Just a very hard situation sad

Keep telling her she got a glimpse of what healing is taking place. It's very common to have a bit of relief and then to have the symptom return - then it will ease up for a few days, then come back again. These good periods should last longer and longer as she goes along and eventually she will find the improvements sticking with her.

I'm going through the same thing - only with a different symptom. I experienced the first food to actually taste good in over 8 months. All this time, I have been force feeding myself simply because I know I need those nutrients if I intend to heal. I deal with a lot of increased nausea and other digestive issues when I force myself to eat, but again, I know that I must.

Last night's dinner actually tasted good though!!! It's the break I have been hoping for for a long time now!! It means that what I'm doing is working, and if I can just hang on, things WILL get better, easier.

I wish there was a way to just ease all of your Mom's worst symptoms, but tell her she has had a glimpse of what healing is going on, and that it will continue if she continues with treatments.

Another suggestion I have is to add Lion's mane to her routines as soon as you can. It will help the nerves heal and ease those nerve symptoms in her feet. Just remember to go slow and low.

I'm trying to keep her going, but I know it isn't easy. She's worried she's going to be stuck like this, that she won't regain any function back. I'm just at a loss right now :/

Not to scare her in any way, but what if you were to explain that this treatment is what brought her to a place where she was able to find a bit of relief from that pain, and stopping treatments would pretty much guarantee that she would continue to have them - but pushing on with treatments (as hard as they can be), is really the only way out of this?

As I said, I do not mean for you to use this to 'scare' her, but to be completely open and honest with her. The treatments have proven they can help her (as she got relief, even if it was for only a few days), so stopping them now will only leave her stuck with it all.

It's all very VERY defeating when you get a bit of relief and then slide back down into it all again, and yet that's what happens. All we can do is support each other and encourage each other to continue on. With as many years as I've been at this, it still gets to me as well.
