I don't know how this guy knows for sure he has antibiotic resistant lyme from treatment. Did Dr. J. tell him that?
I don't think Dr. J. is 'less rounded' as a general physician. He is an Infectious Disease Dr. - so he would know all that a general physician knows...and then some.
He does prescribe non-pharmas as well - so not totally 100% pharma. (I have read several patient protocols - and he does use some of the Cowden products, as well as xylitol, lactoferrin, Glutathione...and other vitamin/minerals)
In the interview - he discusses gut issues...
His background is treating HIV/Aids patients - and that's how he developed his pulsing protocol for LD.
He found that daily dosing for the HIV patients wasn't necessary...and it was better for the immune system to take drug 'holidays'.
I wouldn't say he is "more well versed on abx than Horowitz." Dr. H. knows his antibiotics.
Girlie- I don't mean what I said in a negative way. Both are great physicians and would be my first choices if I continue abx, but I stand behind what I said. Every doctor has different skills and the same goes for these two. As an infectious disease doctor that specializes in Lyme, I would expect Jemsek to have slightly better skills in abx and their mechanisms, penetration, etc. Horowitz was a founder of the dapsone protocol, so he is definitely no slouch.
Horowitz also tends to look more holisitically at the body and the illness. And I would expect this being an Internist. Things such as food allergies, heavy metals, detox, mold, hormones. I am not saying that Jemsek doesn't do this, but Horowitz seems to focus on these areas more. This is just my opinion from reading his book and listening to speeches from him and Jemsek.
