Minocycline Reduces Rate of Multiple Sclerosis Progression

June 1st 2017 study: "A common acne medicine called minocycline can reduce the rate of multiple sclerosis progression in patients who are at early stages of the disease, according to a Phase 3 clinical trial.

The multicenter MinoCIS trial included 142 participants between the ages of 18 and 60 who displayed the first signs of what was suspected to be MS 180 days before starting treatment. The patients were randomized to receive either 100 mg of oral minocycline twice a day or a placebo.

After six months, researchers discovered that the risk of a patient’s disease progressing from a myelin-damage event to full-blown MS was half as low in the minocycline-treated group than in the placebo group — 33.4% versus 61.0%. The result was similar to what can be seen with MS therapies.

The finding was from the MinoCIS trial (NCT00666887) of minocycline, which goes by the brand name Mynocan and other labels. Canadian researchers published the study, “Trial of Minocycline in a Clinically Isolated Syndrome of Multiple Sclerosis,” in the New England Journal of Medicine.

Based on these findings, neurologists will be able to prescribe minocycline for people experiencing their first symptoms of demyelination if an MRI suggests the cause will likely prove to be MS."

So before this, Lyme and MS were two different conditions with exactly the same symptoms, but we needed to be careful because they were treated with completely different drugs..... Now we have two conditions with exactly the same symptoms... and treated with the same drugs !? But they are certainly not related to each other.... Oh boy...

And last year we had similar findings but with different antibiotics:

The common idea is all these antibiotics produce anti-inflammatory effects and stop the disease. But that's just a theory. And if we are just theorizing about the effects of antibiotics, I might have another possible explanation...

I asked my LLMD to prescribe me minocycline and I took 3 pills over the Memorial Day weekend. Man! It knocked me on my a** for about 5 days. Huge herx.

Also confirms the work of Tomas Grier - many of his donated "upper midwest MS cadaver brain specimens" have lyme in them.

And conventional medicine such as the Mayo (same state MN) still wont take his work seriously. Just wrong.

They have a big data project called MyLymeData, where they do complex statistics over data coming from lyme patients. One outcome is that at least 14% of (chronic) lyme patients were previously misdiagnosed with MS.
