Hi. I've been on Doxycycline hyclate 100mg for about 25 days. I was Herxing but It wasnt unbearable. 3 days ago she added in a cyst buster (Tinidazole) 500 mg. Both meds are twice a day. Yesterday day I felt severely bad to the point I am bed ridden. I have two young children I can barely take care of. The neurological symptoms have become unbearing I have pain in my head, feeling out of it, starting to have episodes of hearing loss, feeling extremely weak like I'm just going to black out, it's almost like I feel the toxins in my head it just feels so full. I feel like I'm deteriorating. I'm also having extreme anger, depression, and anxiety. I stopped both medications. I called my doctor today and left a message for them to call me back to see if I can take it on and off until the herxing becomes manageable. I'm drinking lemon water, i've been doing foot baths with Epsom salt. I've changed my eating habits. I'm taking vitamins. What I want to know is there anything else that I can be doing naturally for the nero-lyme? Right now I don't have money for herbs or cleanses. So if anyone can recommend something it can help? or something cheap that I can try. I feel on the edge. And just wondering how people know when they are herxing when does it become dangerous?? I just want to know what's normal and when is too much. Thank you.

Don't start taking the abx until you feel better.

Can you dry brush your skin? If you don't have a brush - use a facecloth - one that has been wet and hung to dry and works well.

How about a warm shower or bath after dry brushing?

Do you have a binder you can take?

Do you have any detox teas? They aren't too costly - maybe you could buy some .. or have someone pick some up for you?

Are you able to lay down and rest?

I think when you do go back on the abx - you need to just pulse the Tinidazole - two days a week.
It's too much for you daily...and LLMD's often prescribe it to be pulsed.
My LLND told me I could take them any two days - didn't have to be in a row.

Traci, I'm backing up what Girlie said. Especially on taking the antibiotics.

Here's a detox method that is free, and easy.....draining the toxin build up out of your facial and neck lymph nodes with your fingers. You don't need to do as many reps as suggested on here. Start with one and move up to 5 reps and see if that helps even more.

I also agree with Girlie and Julymorning - and you can also use activated charcoal - cheap, widely available. Just get the best brand you can for now. Take 2 caps at least 2 hours away from food/meds/herbs and be sure to drink plenty of water with each dose. You should be able to use this dose twice a day for about 3 or 4 days along with the other detoxing suggestions and lower your symptoms some. From there, just continue to do the other detoxing that has been suggested.

When using binders like activated charcoal, you must be very watchful for constipation, as that will allow the toxins enough time in the intestines to be reabsorbed through the intestines to be cycled through the body yet again instead of moving out of the body.

So sorry you're struggling like this Traci - I also had a horrible time during the first 3-4 wks after starting IV abx... please heed the advice others have shared above - all really great suggestions. We all support you - please check in and let us know you're doing OK.

Girlie, sorry for a late reply but I haven't took the meds since. I have just been resting and drinking lots of water. At first it didn't seem to work. But after a detox bath I felt a little better this morning. I didn't have a brush but I bought one today for dry brushing so I will be trying it out soon. I completely forgot about looking for detox teas so I will buy some tomorrow. My doctor finally called back and said to take the doxy every day and take the cyst buster 3 days on 4 days off. So I'm willing to try it to see if I can handle it. Thank you I was just really scare because I stopped taking the meds and I was just getting worse. I've herxed a lot but this time topped it. I felt like I wasn't even here. Very strange.

Traveler Thank you! And would they have those at Wal-Mart? I Seen charcoal tablets for bloating and gas today at Wal-Mart. Would that be the same thing your talking about? I asked the pharmacist about it and told her why I needed to use it but she didn't know whether or not it's used for detoxing?

Pirouette Thank you so much. I feel the same besides my neurological symtoms eased a bit. That was my main concern. I can deal with not having enough energy, most of the pain, and physical symptoms, but when it comes the the neurological symptoms that is one of the scariest things that I experience that I can't tolerate. We need our head for many reasons. But when I feel like I'm losing it that's when I freak out. It's still hard to believe that Lyme can do so much. I miss my old mindset. If I could have my old mindset back while having this disease it would make it so much easier. But the disease stole that too. Sorry just venting. It's been a long few days.

Traci I hope you feel better soon! Agree about the binder and pulsing. Agree too with you about the neuro issues. Usually when I herx it's neurologically with visual, olfactory, and auditory hallucinations, scary thoughts, extreme vertigo, etc.

When you can't trust your own brain is a difficult place! I always have back up friends or hubby on high alert when I feel it coming. But I can't imagine with 2 kiddos. Hang in there hun! You're killing those buggars!

Hi Traci, as someone who suffers from Nuero-lyme myself, I have found that taking diatomaceous earth as a binder was extremely helpful when herxing from my neuro symptoms. It could be primarily because it has silica which facilitates neuro-detox. I would recommend to try it and hope it helps you as it did me.

Yes! That will work!! I do try to find the more reliable brands, but when in a pinch, I use whatever brand I can get to! The cheaper brands may have other things in them, so be sure to read labels - and the cheaper brands may not be quite as effective, but they will still help. You can get a better brand later when you have a bit of time to order it or find it locally.

You will have to make time in your busy schedule for lots of detoxing, but it's likely that will make a big difference for you.

The beginning of treatment is always the worst. I Herx every time I add something new or increase the dose of something.

Did you start Tinidazole at 500mg or at a smaller dose? If you started at 500mg, I would definitely cut that down to 250mg at first when you start back up. Once you are feeling OK on that, then I would increase to 500mg.

I have found that the first time I add something, or increase a dose, I'll feel pretty miserable a few days later. I'll cut it back to where I was before the change until I feel better. When I feel better, I'll try again, and usually that second time will go much more smoothly.
