Yep - another thread that ALL Members need to read!

Good morning all,
I have been noticing that we have threads passing by and ending up at the bottom of the page, or on page two of this forum without one single response. So, let me ask you, what if that had been your post? How would that make you feel about this forum?

If you appreciate this forum for it's responsiveness and the caring members, then we need you to be one too. Don't allow posts to go unanswered - even if you don't have the answer or any ideas to help them, we can certainly empathize with them, can't we?

So, this is my plea - if you like this forum, please help keep it active and helpful to ALL. Do not allow posts to go unanswered, or this community will not be the same. We are here because we need answers, yes - but what if our posts went unanswered? Would we stick around? Not likely. And one of the reasons this community is so busy is because we had everyone reaching out to each other, helping where they could and sympathizing when that's all we had to give. It only take a minute or two to respond to a thread.

Thank you in advance for the extra effort that this requires.

And I almost forgot, this includes welcoming new members too. We need to say welcome to them - just like you were (hopefully) welcomed! Even if you don't know what to say about how they should proceed, we can say that we are glad they found us and just point them to the "new to Lyme" thread if nothing else.

The only way a community stays really great is to keep it functioning wonderfully - that means that we all have a stake in this community staying welcoming and helpful - or it falls apart. If we are only interested in our own needs, then no one will get the help they need.

Please, let's keep this community as the helpful, wonderful and busy place to come for comfort, help and community.

Bumping for more views

I know I am guilty of it. I will try to chime in if I can if I see no answers on someone's post. I totally agree with what you are saying. One of the best things about this board is the participation of members. I have occasionally visited other boards and it's the same few people who chime in or there are no answers at all. Even this website on other illnesses I have noticed a lack of participation.
This board is so active it's hard to keep up. My knowledge is very limited so like I said I am GUILTY!!

This happens from time to time and I would rather put up a post asking that members remember to help out than to have just the mods chiming in. I feel like it creates a much better community, as there will be many view points expressed so that the OP will have a better 'feel' for what options may be out there for them.

I do not mean to be harsh, but I have had some of my first posts ignored and had zero responses, and I can tell you it's very defeating, and if ignored for long, I'm sure that many would just move on to another forum. While that's not a problem, it would then lower the number of community members here and we just wouldn't have the diversification that is so helpful to Lyme patients.


I'd much rather have this as a place of refuge and help that we can all come to and receive and give support. Blue -what would we ever do without you and your BVT??? Or any other number of things that we have learned about simply because a member tried it and wanted to share. We are blessed to have this community and I'd like to do what I can to help it continue to be that way.

Okay - I've spilled my guts now. LOL.

That's understandable, Lymehater, but we can all welcome a new member, or just say that you don't know enough but wanted to bump their post so they can get more views. That's what I do when I don't have the answer!
