Antibiotics for Malarone Resistance

Is anyone taking anything besides a macrolide antibiotic with Malarone or Mepron? I tried biaxin and Clindy and couldn't stomach them. I've been on azithromycin for 6 months this time and now it is causing stomach issues.

Yes, I'm taking minocycline and have also added Bactrim on some days (with Mepron)

You can also take Ceftin or Omnicef with it.

I know someone who takes Amoxy with Mepron.

I am starting malarone soon. My base antibiotic is omnicef and pulsing azith m-th.

hi,

my son, 26 is only taking malarone with Artemisin SOD. Do you have to be on another antibiotic?

Mepron, plaquenil,alinia, pulsed clindamycin ,just switched from azithromycin to Clarithromycin, and Crypotoplus is what I'm taking right now

I'm not sure which is in what category, or what a macrolide is, but I see a well respected Llmd, and that what they have me on.

Lostcoast, that's a good protocol. The macrolide antibiotics are clindamycin, azithromycin and clarithromycin and are preferred by many LLMD's to be taken with malarone or mepron. Unfortunately, for me those antibiotics are causing me stomach upset.

Yes, you should be on an antibiotic with the Malarone or Mepron.

Same as when you're taking Rifampin for bartonella - need another antibiotic to go with it.

The only one that causes me problems is the Clindamycin. I have to be careful what I eat. Too much fat and my movements start getting a little loose. It also gives me unquenchable thirst, and a weird feeling in my throat. Its my least favorite of everything I've taken.

Hope you find something that works for you. I'm sure you are already careful with your diet and probiotics, working on that has helped me tolerate these things much better.
