So my mom is not doing good at all. She has not developed neck weakness, and her speech is started to become affected. I'm sure the neck weakness could be a symptom, but what about the speech issues? It's becoming hard to understand what she is saying, almost as if she is slurring her words. Maybe she does have ALS. The doctor did say we are still unsure if it is ALS & Lyme, or just Lyme. Any thoughts?

Lyme can produce just about every symptom imaginable. My mother's speech is affected as far as word-finding. Didn't you say your mom had a Lyme positive band?

I am sorry to hear she's not doing well. I've followed your story and really feel for your family.

Kari - I'm sorry to hear this.

Yes, speech issues can be lyme and co's.

What is her current treatment? Is it just Lyme or is she being treated for bartonella and/or babesia?

Is she still on IV's?

I was slurring my words (and even had stuttering develop) when I was over loaded with toxins. Are you seeing any other signs that may point to an overload of toxins again?

Yes, stuttering and slurring of speech, too.

Hi Kari!-

I'm so sorry to hear about your moms symptoms.

I stuttered every day for about 1 year. And once a month I would lose my ability to talk. I would not be able to form a word for 2-8 days in a row. The average was about 5 days in a row that I could not talk.

I was able to hum to songs but in order to communicate with others, I would have to write down what I wanted to say.

The thing that helped me was Byron White A-Inflam. This is an herbal supplement that I can only get through my LLMD.

Please look into something to get the inflammation down in your Mom's body.

Cake-yes, she was positive on a few, the two important ones being 18 & 23.

Girlie-yes, she's still on IV. She receives IV rocephin and IV bactrim 5 days/week and she is also receiving fluids in there somewhere as well to help with detox since she cannot drink easily with the breathing mask. The dr said the bactrim was for bartonella and her breathing has gotten worse, she wakes up gasping for air at night. So they started her (I think) on something for babesia.

Traveler-her neck is now getting weak, she has been in quite a bit of pain (although probably from being bed ridden) and the movement she got back in her right arm is gone again. And also the speech problem which seems to have developed recently.

I asked her doctor about the speech issue and she said that it is probably From ALS. My mom still doesn't believe she even has Lyme disease no matter how much information I give her. And the doctor saying that this could be both didn't help matters any.

Unfortunately we are running on borrowed time, especially now. My mom plans on giving up in the near future. She doesn't think she will ever get better, and I have to say; I question that too. She is in horrible horrible shape. It's just horrible to watch her go through this. She can't move anything except her head, she's in pain, just miserable. I'm only 24 years old...I just want my mom back sad

I'm so so very sorry, Kari!!!

Push the LLMD for more things to help her to detox. Is she able to use binders? While you will have to watch closely for constipation issues, it can make a difference more quickly for some.

Some of the weakness and pain may be due to inflammation or nerve pain. There are things you can do for those too, if you can find a way to kind of verify that's an issue.
