Low Dose Naltrexone

I took LDN very successfully for about a year. The only reason I stopped taking it was because I forgot about it!

It is VERY difficult for some to titrate up to optimal doses - it can exacerbate neuropathy, myopathy, etc. and anything else you're taking it for!

But for many, if you stick with it - there is relief on the other side. So, if you had improvements at .5mg - you can opt to stay at it. If you had some success at that dose but not as much as you'd like, you can increase it - but try only .5 at a time and don't increase again until any herxing or effects subside.

I tried it before lyme diagnosis...and it didn't help me...
It actually interfered with my sleep. But, I stuck it out...slowly increased...but what happened to me is I started to get pain in the night...when I hadn't previously.

Maybe it was because I wasn't sleeping as soundly that I felt the pain ....I don't know.

But, it certainly didn't do anything for my symptoms.


Others have claimed it helped them. It's inexpensive...so worth a try.

Starting it tomorrow at 3mg and 4.5 mg in a week.

Agreed, start at the lower dose. I've taken it for 6 months. I believe it was responsible for boosting my cd57nk. I have minimal pain. My problem is major fatigue and head issues.

I'm about to run out and I think I'll take a break to see what happens.

How to you manage to get LDN treatment? I've found a doc who knows about LDN usage but told me it's too experimental to do in practice and low doses are not available to buy. I'm in Europe so maybe it's different here.

I just went to my GP and explained about the low dose...she did a quick search on her computer...and wrote me up a prescription to take to the compounding pharmacist.


Re: You can get the higher doses and take smaller amounts (water dilution method) - I recently looked into it for a member who is in Europe and said she couldn't get the low dose.

But, that would mean your Dr. would be willing to give you full dose...

Sheeks - i know you can't take it with opiates - but CBD oil isn't an opioid - so should be okay?


I started off low and increased - but for some reason - it added pain to me sleep hours...unfortunately.

maybe I should have dropped back on the dosage...and stayed longer on the minimum dose.

I also tried the CBD oil for pain - didn't help me either.

I started (in January) at 1.5 for a week and then increased to 3, but it caused sleep disturbances for me. LLMD moved me back down to 1.5 this month, so we'll see.

If the sleep disturbances continue - you can try taking it first thing in the morning. I've read others have done that.

Thanks, Girlie. I asked my LLMD about that and he doesn't want me taking it earlier in the day.

Hopefully staying on the 1.5 mg dose for awhile longer before moving up to 3 mg. will help.

I started LDN at .5 and slowly titrated up to 4.5 mg. At first, I had difficulty falling asleep and staying asleep, but it got better with time. I have now been on it for about 6 months and noticed a huge difference! My symptoms were almost gone and manageable. One month, I forgot to refill my prescription in time and missed two days. I felt so sick those 2 days of not taking it, which just re-assured me that it was actually working. However, I am now starting to regain all of my symptoms back. Scheduling an appt with my LLMD tomorrow to figure out what the next step is.
