Journaling: Do you? How do you?

I think it would be helpful for my daughter to journal her symptoms each day, and maybe her daily meds/supps. What format works best? Any tips on what to include in the journal? Do LLMDs care to read them or is it just a personal exercise.

I feel like we should hit all the steps when we start rather than getting partway through her protocol and wishing we had done it.

I'm also considering this for myself so I'm better armed with info when I see my MD.

I don't think LLMD's read them, but they do (or should) want to know what her symptoms are...which ones are worse, which ones are better...any new ones? etc.

So, a journal is good to document each symptom.

I wrote mine down on a chart - listed them on left hand side top to bottom. Then had the dates across the top..then I would rate them between 0-10 3X day. (Once daily may be good - but mine fluctuated all day long)

Someone once said rating them from 1-5 is better...and I'm thinking that makes sense.

So Girlie, do you think maybe a calendar would be better? She could enter symptoms on each day's slot and rate them 1-10. I say 1-10 because that's what all the MDs in this area use for pain charts and such, so it's possibly more relatable.

Then again, I think I can visualize what you're describing. Perhaps a spreadsheet is a better format.

Yes if she can fit it all in on the calendar squares - I had too many symptoms to chart (35 - 40)

And yes there is an excel spreadsheet that rowingmom used to chart her daughters symptoms in the New To Lyme thread - thanks TxBart for the reminder. It is quite detailed though - may be a bit much for your daughter.

I made my own excel spreadsheet and listed the date and just put a paragraph on it called general feelings. Then I put in my stats that I thought were pertinent. I had heart involvement so I did BP, pulse, O2 readings, and my temperature.

It really is helpful to also put in the meds/herbs you are taking and how much and how often.

Thank you, everyone. For now she is using a journal. She'll be able to fit symptoms and her meds and supplements on the pages.
